Interesting . . . this could certainly happen. All Snake has to do is come up with a few hundred K in the next month. The Dalaras are pretty much kit cars, the Honda engines come complete in a box and lots of pretty good drivers will be standing around with helmet in hand.
However, being competitive in the 500 is another issue. You have to assemble a team with a race strategist and a crew who can deal with a huge track, frenetic pace and multiple pit stops. Our friends at Luczo Dragon have made huge strides in the first two races and Sam Schmidt has a Ganassi car with the very experienced Townsend Bell driving. But even these experienced teams have to deal with those pesky Penske, Ganassi and Andretti juggernauts.
Can Don field a Ganassi car if he comes up with sponsor dollars? - yes.
Can he get a team together in time for the race and qualify? - possibly not.
Is he willing to put up with the huge amount of stress and frustration associated with this race? - that's his call.
If he puts this together, I'll be there and watching closely.
