Rumors are flying that Chip Ganassi has signed Graham Rahal and an Indy Lights driver and will create a new team that will be headquartered in Don's shop in Brownsburg. In a further connection to drag racing, Rahal may be bringing sponsorship from TBC Retail Group, this year's sponsor of SCI Racing's Pro Stock cars.
Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Is he involved or just leasing the building? either way its a good way to make use of a building. Buildings like that must cost a lot to run and look after when you don't have money coming in.

Pretty sure Larry Dixon leases some of the shop space he owns in Brownsburg to an IndyCar team.

Snake and Chip have been buddies for a while, I just hope Snake isn't sinking a bunch of money into the IndyCar team ... that series is a bigger money suck than drag racing is, and it has a far worse ROI than drag racing does at the present time. IndyCar would KILL to have the 3 day crowds that most NHRA national events attract. The average NHRA event draws .6 -.8 nielsen TV rating, the average IndyCar event draws a .2 -.4 TV rating. Outside of the Indy 500, that series is invisible and hemorrages cash.

In the spring and summer it is usually around a 4. In the fall, when competing against the NFL, it drops to the 2.5 range. This rating discrepency was the whole reason the Countdown/Chase was created. Brian France thought the development of a playoff system would help keep the ratings steady or even increase them versus the NFL. Turns out he was wrong.

Right, and there are an awful lot of empty ones right there with killer deals available.

I've seen articles about Prudhomme over the years saying his first love was Indycars back in the early 60's so who knows...

Give Indy car a couple of years and they will be at the top. Their new CEO is very smart and they are making some good moves. Because of the tv time you get from live broadcast of the cars on tracks they do not need 3 day packed events (and last nhra events i were at they were not packed!).

Indy car racing, early 1990s. Scott Goodyear and Roberto Guerrero both drove for Kenny, taking the Michigan 500 win and the Indy 500 pole, respectively, while driving for Bernstein's team, King Motorsports.

...and if memory serves me Guerrero crashed from the pole on the warm up lap before the race even started. DON'T DO IT SNAKE!

I wouldn't worry about Snake doing anything foolish with his money at this stage of his life, that's exactly why he pulled the plug on his TF deal. If he's able to get involved with an Indy Car deal somehow, I say good for him.

Yeah I know that. Chris made it sound like it was a bad experience.

Yes they could've won some more races and the Buick V6 made a ton of power, but wasn't the most reliable engine package.

I think a win and an Indy 500 pole on The Captain's, Newman/Haas, Pat Patrick's and Foyt's playground is a pretty noble effort.

My guess is K.B. got a nice chunk of change from Buick & Quaker State to go do it too.

Bernstein also owned a Nascar Winston Cup team. Won with Ricky Rudd and gave Brett Bodine his only cup victory.
