I knew this was going to happen, Roger "The Rocket" Clemens signed with the New York Yankees today for 5 months for $28 million.

That will make Bobby Lagana happy - he gave me no end of grief when Houston "stole" him from the Yankees.

Well, I`m just glad he didn`t sign with the Red Sox. I watched the Mariner/Yankee game today and the Rocket was in Yankee Stadium and made the announcement in the 7th. I`m flying up to Seattle Friday for the Yankee three game series...I just wished Roger was going to start one of them, but he`s got a series of starts in the minors first, beginning this week they said today.

I knew he was gone the minute the Yankees signed Petitte. Really, the fans here were about sick of the Roger and Andy show. They both just blah, blah'd about being back home.....that didn't last long.

Oh, well. I'll still root their superior talent, but I won't miss them.

Craig Biggio was asked his pet peave (didn't necessarily have to be sports related) and his response was "People that don't respect the game of baseball." THAT'S who I call our franchise player. :)

All I have to say is:

Go Red Sox!
All of a sudden that suspect Yankee rotation just got a whole lot better. I`ll put these five starters up against Beantowns any day.

Clemens
Wang
Petitte
Mussina
Hughes (back in a month)

I agree Chris but I dont think Boston is all that scared. To be honest, I am a huge Roger Clemens fan and I hated to see him go b/c the Astros suck but having said that you have to know that he's going to continue to lose some productivity and I think the main reason he was so good in Houston was b/c he was in the NL and not the AL. I wish him success there in NY. I have no hard feelings against him. Hell he came here the first year for $5m and he performed better than most of all of our players past his 40th bday. And I cant blame him for wanting to win a championship and he wasnt going to do that here in Houston and also who can pass up $28 million over 5 months? Not me. I would go for $100k!

im a huge yankee fan and im glad the rocket is back-BUT- if we get into the playoffs it will be a wildcard. bostons pitching is insane! beckett - schilling- matsuzaka- wakefield- lester coming back, the pen has that japanese guy- brendon donnely and pablebon. wow! but anyway- GO YANKS !

Well, the Rangers just flat out SUCK!!! Someday we will see them win the World Series again. I just hope I am alive to see it!

Wakefield and Matsuzaka (with his 5+ era) don`t scare anybody, and neither does Schilling anymore. Beckett is great however, and so his Papelbon, but I like NYs chances to not only make it into the postseason, but to win the A.L. East for the 7th straight year. Just need Riviera and the middle relievers to get it together. I`m really looking forward to going to Safeco this weekend! GO YANKEES!!!

I pick the Astro's to win the NL Central as long as they move the Pirates, Brewers, Cards, and Cubs to another division. Hell I will even go further, I pick them to represent the NL in the World Series if you move all the other NL teams to the AL b/c thats the only way they are going to see it. I just dont see this team taking off and winning 40 of the last 50 games of the season to make it to the playoffs like they did a couple years ago.

I agreee Justin. But this will be a special season anyway. Craig will get his 3000 hits.....and that will be enough for it to be a successful season. :)

The Yankees aren't going anywhere unless they get some relief pitching.
Their setup guys and closers blow this year. Look at the way they are losing....take a five run lead and then get tossed in the late innings.
And BTW Boston is good.....I watched them play my Ms last week and it was ridiculous.

Rocket had better produce is all I can say! For that kind of $$$ he had better have an ERA in the 2's or they'll Burn him out fast!
