They finally wised up and started using their strong turbocharged 4 cylinder program in a new style chassis. It's about time. I'm finally interested in the new Camaro.

The new "Camaro" looks like a Toyota Camry. This should make it easy for F/C racers to adopt the new body for NHRA competition...just slap some bowties on the current Camry F/C body and viola!!

As computers and CFD take over more and more of design duties, all of the car manufacturers will have the same data that will drive the shape of their cars. Thusly, all the cars will continue to look more and more alike. There will always be hold outs and exotics pushing the design limits or creating unique shapes, but for the mass produced stuff, it will all meld into one blob indistinguishable from another at an ever-increasing rate.

I'm glad they did something to make the LS cars more distinguishable from the V6 units. Always a sore point with me when someone spends big bucks for a car and it's hardly distinguishable from the neighbors v6 econobox.
Say what you will about my Aussie GTO, but when you pull up next to one you know what's lurking under the hood.....

I read somewhere that the new Camaro will be built on a smaller platform than the previous generation. Hopefully that works out better for them than when Ford downsized the Mustang to a Pinto platform resulting in the Mustang II debacle

The previous generation Camaro was little more than a reskinned Pontiac GTO/Holden Monaro. I believe even the tooling from the plant in Australia made it's way to Oshawa, Ontario where the Camaros are built.

To be exact, the new Camaro is based on GM's "Alpha" platform, the same one that is used by the Cadillac ATS. That is the main reason why this version was able to shed over 200 pounds.

Which is cool, because now we know that GM could put a V8 (Please make it the Z06's LT4!) into the ATS.
