Over on Complus, there's a rumor that a top-five finisher in NHRA Top Fuel may be available due to the sponsorship on the side of the car being more flash than cash. Any thoughts? The rumor states he's an "almost" rookie. Hot Rod?

oops

Im sorry but not top five finisher but a good leaver.

It's pretty much been common knowledge that Hot Rod's team has been seeking a new sponsor for next season....................so what's new now? David Powers decided that he won't run it out of pocket????

I wonder if the downturn in the housing industry is affecting Powers' ability in addition to his willingness to fund the team.

Hey that's not good for Hot Rod... My father-in-law took him out yesterday in the quarters at the PSA race in Vegas. Needless to say he was pretty excited. Additionally, there was a bounty on his head of a whole $12.50.

Best of luck to whomever it is. Rod is a hell of a Sportsman driver too.

How can Powers get rid of a driver who finished in the top five in order to get Bazemore? No TF experience and not a huge fan favorite. Just goes to show you the power of the sponsor. Shoe should get him into his camp to drive for him.

Hey guys,
its only a rumour! If David Powers is short on spending cash why has the team just taken delivery of a new 56' trailer for Baze's car with a tech trailer and hospitality package on the way as well. Plus they just hired another top line crew chief as well.

That they did, and he's worked with Baze, but I don't know if the beans on that one have been spilt yet ;)

PS Keith, Use to love your write ups in motorpsort news!

Alan,

Wasn't there a half-roll of LifeSavers and a couple tickets to the previous weekend's NASCAR race also in the deal???

Comp plus is reporting this morning that Steve Torrence has been granted permission to talk to David Powers about a potential driving job. Hopefully everything will work out for Hot Rod.

Sorry Alan. I will get it right next time.
