In the most recent podcast that they did live from Vegas 5.46 Tony offered no apologies for what he said in the previous podcast (that NHRA deleted) and adamantly defended what he said and he vowed to continue to do his job as analyst as he always has approached it. I hope not - we will not have any episodes to listen to after they remove them all:)

So he's saying he's not going to get any better. Had high hopes when he entered the booth, not anymore

I guess Jim Head didn’t give TP an attitude adjustment due to what TP said about Head’s team earlier this season.
Too bad.
I, too, hoped for better analysis when TP entered the booth.
But, he’s gotten too highfalutin for his own good.

when clay, 2 crew chiefs, and top crew guy all suggest their team has been falsely accused two races in a row.......
i don't need to hear anything else. unfounded misinformation is not a building block for nhra's future. i wish somebody would realize this.

This doesn't have to be hard.
1. Car is looked at BEFORE the event. Crew chief is notified about irregularities observed. Crew chief fixes car and returns to tech with car corrected.
2. NHRA national office sends notice to crew chief after event about the observed irregularities. The public is notified in detail as to what infraction was observed. If the same irregularities are observed again, the car is loaded and asked to return to the next event with irregularities corrected.
3. Three letters of any kind buy the team a month off.
4. Winning cars are teched post race. If an irregularity is observed, the team and public are notified. If the car has irregularities observed again, of any kind, the win is vacated and the public notified as to why, in detail.

Some kind of "wiggle room" has to be built into the current tech system to allow for human error. Human malice needs to be dealt with directly and firmly.

Making snarky comments about teams that are actually racing, while he has been relegated to the TV booth, is what makes TP feel good about himself.
On that insider podcast that NHRA deleted Tony also made some highly derogatory comments regarding Clays team for the loose ballast issue. It was a bad mistake and they paid the price. No need to grind them into the ground.
Exactly why I subscribe to Nhra Tv. So I don't have to listen to Tony P's bull***t. Alan Reinhardt calls it like it is, if he doesn't know he shut's his mouth.

Look at Nascar.

Ok. Tech is Thursday. I pass with flying colors.
Friday after Q1 I decide to put my unapproved AJ Stage 25 heads on, 2.90 gear ratio , 8 disk clutch and headers laid back so far you’d think Snoop Dogg built them. Set Low ET. Before Q3 Saturday I put it all back to normal. What good is checking the car Thursday? Spot checking is the best way IMO just because all the parts get changed out so much.

Another note on spot checking. By chance I happened to be in a crew chief lounge not long after a barrier breaking run when NHRA tech came by. They came with thumb drives wanting the computer data, and told the CC by the way we are taking a cylinder head back with us. 😁
Look at Nascar.
Apples and oranges. You can’t come in and put a 400” engine for 350 laps then come back in and make it right before the finish of the race to pass tech. In theory, in NHRA you could run 8 blocks, 8 blowers, 8 sets of headers and heads etc. during the duration of the weekend if you make the final. Swap in or out any part you need to.

Tasca's new headers.

Disclaimer, I don't know 100% of the facts, Having said that, in professional basketball the ref's seem to let little infractions slide during playoff games, knowing a foul called on a simple bump that made no difference in the game could effect the outcome of a championship. Seems to me, in this case, where the team did their due diligence by having the headers checked, and tech knowing that 1/4" would have no effect on performance, the tech officials are interjecting themselves in a championship rather than letting it play out to see who actually wins it.

I just watched Clay's YouTube channel where they talked about the tire explosion. Jim O's buddy, Bruce from Australia, didn't have very kind words about the so called journalist in the TV booth.

I nearly spit my coffee out when i read that. Alans a Good guy who knows more about this sport than just about anyone but lets be honest he tows the company line like nobody's business. Yes if he doesn't know he shuts it but he shuts even tighter if he knows or suspects the NHRA is wrong and i cant blame him, as any sane person would subscribe to not biting the hand that feeds you :)

With the NHRA we will know nothing about anything, man they piss me off with this 'secret' s***.

It's a start. They can and should do better. It's still pretty vague.

In my opinion, I don’t think they owe the fans a detailed explanation, but they should be very upfront with the person being fined or in the case of Angie Smith’s bike, should have answered questions they had around the confiscation of the bike. Secrecy sometimes leads to unnecessary speculation.
If a detailed explanation is asked for by the viewing public I think the NHRA should explain their actions. That is, unless they have something to hide. Being up front and honest with the public would go a long way toward better public relations. And yes, secrecy does lead to unnecessary speculation AND distrust of the NHRA. If I want secrecy I'll look at our corrupt govt.

I’m not sure we are that far apart on our opinion. It’s hard to make a blanket statement regarding such a wide variety of subjects. I believe they should usually give more detail than they do, if nothing else to take the heat off themselves.
In the case of sagging headers, only in regards to why they took such a strong stance after the fact. Had the teams been warned to monitor this many times? I’m not sure what else can be said about being out of spec.
In the case of Angie Smith’s bike, if they were just investigating why it didn’t shut off, they certainly should have not been so secretive.
I’m the case of Elite’s safety violation, they should have made a point to explain if it was hooked up incorrectly or just blatantly bypassed.
In the case of Clay’s car, they should have had some sort of explanation as to why they waited so long to penalize them. Maybe there is a reason, but it doesn’t make sense.
By always being so vague, they make a lot of situations look like they are being unfair and biased, but if they have good reason why would they not say so? I guess my point was, answering the public’s questions could be never ending, but they should answer every question the teams and drivers have regarding their situation.
