I can see how people want to perceive that “Niceness” is always mandatory but I disagree. Facts are what matter ultimately, as long as he’s got them right, not the feelings of those he’s speaking to or about. Now being on a public forum and representing a major sanctioning body, should people try to deliver these facts as PC as possible? Well…that’s up to the public and the sanctioning body to decide. Seems as though the NHRA thought Tony crossed a line and pulled the comments. It’s their sand box folks. Still doesn’t change the facts though.
Nick I appreciate your take on this. Just curious as to if you actually heard what Tony said on the 10/24 Insider podcast ?

With all the hub-bub about his comments I really wished I had heard them for myself but sadly I didn’t.

What’s wrong with Tony calling out the negligent crew for not securing ballast? I’m glad someone like Tony exists so that it’s not all NHRA PR. I’ve searched and not found a single reference to Clay’s incident. If it wasn’t for TP I wouldn’t have known.

well, it will come out eventually. clay will report the facts via his channel, as his preliminary comments suggest in above posted video (thanks kenneth).

so let me get this straight regarding tasca deal (i missed the racing action over weekend).......bob ran 3.842 in Q4 to go 'to the top', car was teched, passed, was handed the #1Q hats,
then someone in nhra over rode the techs, hours later, and the run was DQ'd, leaving bob qualified 2 overall. bob would have taken the 3 bonus points, but run was DQ'd and he received
zero bonus points for the round, while hight got 3 ...... do i have this time sequence and how things happened correct?

You completely missed the point of TP’s Parts Plus rant, it was on the basis of safety NOT performance. So no, he won’t have the same energy for Tasca’s infraction. It’s not the same thing.

Whether he will say anything at all about the DSQ is a fair question and I’d imagine he’s smarting after his Robert rant.
I get the point that Tony was making. And I agree with him on the safety aspect. But he decided to go beyond that.

I don’t know where TP gets his information but there is obviously two sides to the story. How often does ballast make its way onto the track and what was the penalty in those incidents? The NHRA rule reads that all ballast must be secured to the car and even if it was secured to Milligan’s dragster, it still ended up on the track. The penalty seems fairly severe but a rule is a rule.

I was at the event, and it wasn’t perfectly clear. What they said at the event was that they took the headers down to tech prior to the race and they were all approved, at this point they were checking the angles. The infraction the night of qualifying was an overall width infraction that they said was caused by the headers sagging. They tried to make it sound like the car went through tech before he got the number one qualifier hat but that didn’t seem to be the case. I don’t believe they had time to inspect anything before they handed out the hats, they almost would’ve had to measure it in the shutdown…

I re-watched the race and according to Tasca they where measured, told it was not a DNQ offense, and to make a slight adjustment with a rubber mallet, then given the number 1 hat, then told hours later that the tech inspectors where overruled, and the run was DNQ'd. If you watched Clay's video you can see where he was teched right after making a quilifying run. JR Todd was DQ'd after a 1st round win at Topeka last year after a header infraction.

Has anyone given any thought to all of these DQ's and points deductions at the end of the season? I'll put my little spin on things, How about NHRA doesn't want a clear Championship winner in the Pro classes before the last race. Just my thoughts...

So when Erica bit off Amandas head it was a no no. But when Tony goes on a rant against a team it is OK ? 👍

They have pulled that podcast. Did anyone record it. The comments in Clay's video are pretty clear that they are very upset with his comments.

I have it on my phone. My phone downloads the podcast when they become available on the Apple podcast store.

Enders was being interviewed. TP wasn't interviewing anyone. Totally different situation. But neither are good at all.

Mike Dunn, when he was in the booth, never that I can recall would go off with whiny editorializing like TP has, does, and will. Sure wish he was back.

seems like any of us (me included) that didn't hear the podcast, can fill in the missing colors

Where is Mike Dunn nowadays?

In Clay's video he said that they're appealing the penalty and Jim O and Jesse were adamant that it wasn't anything close to what TP said. Maybe with them appealing and TP giving info that maybe isn't true or he shouldn't have, made them decide to pull the episode.
