Time for rules change and open up the class, at least to an outsider....there are many, many RWD coupes and sedans still being sold, but not necessarily Pro Stock eligible.

Pro Stock eligible? Mustang and ChargerJust curious, what are the only 2 rear wheel drive cars?
I do not know if the new Charger is eligible, I know Allen Johnson has said the old Challenger was not, the size I think, it had to fit within the "box", and it did not, That is why they raced the Dart 10 years ago, Chrysler/Fiat dropped the Dart from production and that is why MOPAR left., not going to support some thing they do not sell anymore, as stated by Richard Freeman Chevy does not supply support but makes all the parts easy to get.Pro Stock eligible? Mustang and Charger
Not from the US big three. Corvette, mustang, cadillac and charger is all I can think of. German and european etc. yes.there are many, many RWD coupes and sedans still being sold, but not necessarily Pro Stock eligible.
I agree with you on thatI guess if you really think about it Top Fuel looks alike, Funny Car looks alike, Pro Stock looks alike, on and on. Still the greatest racing on the planet. I still think it would be cool to see a pick up against a camero or an SUV against a Mustang or new Charger. It would at least make the class instantly one of the most interesting, kinda like what Pro Mod used to be with all the classic bodies.....
The Scat Pack and R/T versions give you the option to switch off the AWD and go to RWD.the new Chargers are AWD not RWD.
Yeah and Cadillac is all electric, crossover type stuff now.Not from the US big three. Corvette, mustang, cadillac and charger is all I can think of. German and european etc. yes.
GR Supra. Also Cadillac still has a rear wheel drive hot rod, CT5-V Blackwing.Yeah and Cadillac is all electric, crossover type stuff now.
Isn't there a RWD Toyota? The sporty one, I think the one they went in on with BMW......can't remember now.
Sorry for the typos!Check out how aerodynamic the new Prius is, imagine that was a Pro Stock, Pro Mod, or Funny Car...It just seems to me that the days of "Stock" and "Showroom" are over. Does it really matter any longer of a car is front or rear wheel drive or electric from the factory if the brand a body style can be used in any particular class? I say open it all up and make the sport and classes a lot more interesting and entertaining...
I have to draw the line at the Prius but I get your idea. Not sure about any body style but it could be opened up some. The purists will scream but probably not the casual fan, might even help attendance. Maybe factory support and sponsorship isn't all that important any more. It would be interesting.Check out how aerodynamic the new Prius is, imagine that was a Pro Stock, Pro Mod, or Funny Car...It just seems to me that the days of "Stock" and "Showroom" are over. I think you made your point, what a wild ride that must beNHRA/Fox Sports could help the cause of Pro Stock. It wasn't that long ago they found time to do a lot of interesting pitside tech coverage that explained to the viewing audience what goes into the building, operation, tuning and driving a competitive Pro Stock car along with a lot more in-car camera work. Now it's just rush-rush-rush so we can get back to the nitro cars.
And don't tell me a 6 second doorslammer can't fire up a crowd....
