Pro Stock testing... (2 Viewers)

Here's what I remember....Warren and Bob had big 18-wheelers with work shops and a row of extra motors inside them back in the 80's. Their competitors were (mostly) still using gooseneck trailers, with very little equipment and dually pickups to pull them. Warren and Bob out-worked every one in the class, were waaaay ahead of their competitors, and had the funding to be so.

I think that's a GREAT thing...

I think that's a great thing, too, John. However, credit needs to be given where it's due and remember that about half of those "80's" you speak of, the only ones waaaay ahead of anybody was that RMS trio out of Arlington Texas, with 4 world championships in a row and couting. And I would bet that money wasn't exactly overwhelming their bank account.

Who knows where we would be now, had the great cylinder head specialist not been taken from us so early.

One can only wonder, Sean...
Damn, those were great times for Pro Stock!:D

Great point Sean. I still remember Bruce Allen referring to "bolting in a Bad, New Rat" for the next round! What a great time that was. Those guys were soooo good. Sorry I didn't include them in my earlier note...I was just focused on the WJ/Glidden battles....but Bruce and the boys gave everybody a run for their money. I remember sitting next to Bruce's wife in the Top Eliminator Club at Topeka. She was very nice and put up with us Dodge guys. Bruce beat us that year....

No apologies needed, brother. Being a die-hard Reher & Morrison fan, I tend to get a little sensitive!!! LMAO!!! Heck, I should apologize for only emphasizing Lee. Bruce did one hell of a job stepping into that car under those circumstances and proved to be a great one to carry on the Reher & Morrison banner for us faithful.

And Doug, you couldn't be more right, because those truly were some good times!

I'd love to see the RM car and Bruce back out there. It would be great for the class. I'm confident they could still run with the big dogs..
