Brian you may be right, it was one of the Night of Fire races Billy Meyer did. I thought it was 4th of July but I'm not sure.

The Highly crash was at the spring race in Dallas in 1997. It occured during round 2 of eliminations. That was also the first NHRA race for Dave Reiff.

Jon, can't remember the name but I do remember seeing footage of it after it happened. Pretty scary stuff!
