Terry Blount has a way of skewing the facts to make it look as though he is making some kind of strategic point.
Hmmmm!
NASCAR 10 of 36 races are in the chase = 27%
NHRA 6 of 23 races are in the chase = 26%
Hmmm! What exactly is Blount pointing out?
NASCAR 12 chase drivers out of 43 who race in the regular main event = 28%
NHRA 10 chase drivers out of what number 25(?) = 40%
or if you want to use the 16 in the final round = 62.5%
And Blount's point is that NHRA selects fewer drivers! Huh? What?
NHRA starts the chase at Indy! The point is?
And the focus of his story is that NHRA does it right and NASCAR does it wrong.
Unfortunately, the NASCAR community has to deal with his babbling mis-leading rhetoric on a daily basis.
The best thing NHRA has going for it is that Blount doesn't follow the series!
I like the "chase" system in both series and believe it has been good for racing in general. The additional interest and extra butts in the seats is what allows teams to race for a living. I don't see how that is a bad thing.
Maybe I'm messed up but i enjoy everything from drag racing to dirt and paved ovals, road courses and even cruises and car shows. Pretty much anytime it involves wheels and horsepower, I can find something to like about it. I go to each event or facility to have a good time being around motorsports. I don't really have the time to figure out what might be wrong with each type of event.
Sorry for ranting. I just really don't care for Terry Blount's storylines most of the time. Hmmmm! Looks like I found something to complain about!
