NHRA-INDYCAR-NASCAR Cross Pollination (9 Viewers)

Eh, I'd take a hard pass on this idea. IndyCar and F1 are in their own little millionaire world and NASCAR, well, I've made my thoughts known about them before.

Indy Car is millionaires, F1 is billionaires and IMO neither really cross over to drag racing. Indy and F1 are destination events, thousand of dollars for a weekend show. Drag racing is us podunks having fun for a day or two and complaining about $65 tickets.
NASCAR is 50k rednecks getting drunk for the day

Bingo!

Wonder if John and Laurie Force have gone with Courtney to watch hubby Graham race yet? Hasn't been any sponsorship yet this year from Graham Rahal Performance for JFR.

IndyCar and F1 are comparable in some respects, however money and visibility ain't one of them.

Leave F1 out of the conversation.

Destination events for IndyCar? Have you looked at their schedule lately?

I was speaking to Robin Miller at Pomona a few years ago and he said grassroots open wheel racing was much more comparable to grassroots drag racing than NASCAR.

My belief has always been that if we get someone to the track for the first time we have a chance to hook them as a fan.

So I would be in favor of a cross promotion just to expose those people to what we do. We would win some of them over.

NHRA, F1, IndyCar, NASCAR and IHRA should all have show or exhibition cars at each of their respective events, in the free areas where fans can walk right up and see the vehicles from a foot away, as we do in the pits. Real, modern day representative top cars from each form of racing.

Perhaps even start up the cars, a few revs. I’ve seen a Busch car slowly idle through the fans’ midway before. It definitely gets people talking. Can a top fueler do that; probably not a good idea. But start it on the lift jacks and wack the pedal? You bet. Each different car so that throughout the weekend …. Would be cool.

nobody was hurting for fans back in the 90's. i think winston actually pushed cross promotion, at least with displays.
i think bernstein's multi series deal did the same. john force ran that 'force' display trailer around to other series too.
