New RPM Rule Change In Pro Stock. (4 Viewers)

Too little, too late.
The limit should never have been implemented in the first place. Everybody and his brother knew the limit was going to kill the Mopars, yet NHRA put the limit in place anyway.
And now, in hopes of attracting Mopars and Fords back they say, “never mind.”
Who has been working to improve the Fords and Mopars from the time the limit was put into place?
I’d venture to say nobody.
Just kill the class NHRA. You’ve been terrible at managing it since 1972.

Ford does seem to be somewhat interested in expanding their motorsports program, for what that’s worth. Their ceo tells some lies but he seems pretty interested in racing ventures. They spent a lot of money to get on board with redbull powertrains in formula1. So who knows, maybe they’ll do something.

i love to see someone with the know how and resources step up and build a ford or mopar for 2027 PS,
if in fact this new package has the ability to level the playing field.

The latest Ford Wedge that Clint Neff has been racing in COMP has shown a lot of promise/potential. I believe it made 1400 with a single 4 barrel.

I would like to see someone invest in that. But I'm not sure if they are still casting the heads. Jim Cunningham financed the project. And Neff grabbed all he could find.

They have miss the mark on pro stock rules for decades. I gonna file this new rule along with the previous ones, such as 'forcing the teams to turn the car around in the pits', the 'shorter wheelie bars', 'large decals of what make the car is' etc. Anybody remember their solution to increase diversity in the Pro stock truck class, where they set aside 4 qualifying slots for Ford and Chrysler. How did that work out, . . . sheesh!!

maybe carl tasca could develop a PS team?
i'd like to see lenny lottig put his resources and talent towards PS, but he's in a MMPS rite now.
j. line's brothers both drive fords in stock, maybe someone could convince jason to cast a big block ford,
if he hasn't already? k. skinner, j. dietsch, d. holbrook are a few more 'ford' names that come to mind.

I would love to see what Billy and Shannon Glidden could do with a Ford engine , with some decent funding sent their way. Just dreaming, he might not even be interested though.

While this looks promising FORD enthusiasts shouldn’t get their hopes up. Permit me to explain. Quoting the NHRA rule book - “CYLINDER HEADS Hemi, canted-valve or wedge cast heads permitted. Aftermarket heads permitted if designed and cast with OEM approval, and currently accepted by NHRA. Accepted cylinder heads: Ford cylinder head, part/casting number M-6049-E460, or part/casting number M-6010-JC50, or part/ casting number M-6010-JC51. All heads designed and cast after 2/1/1991 must include OEM part/casting number plus OEM logo identification, and must be NHRA-accepted”. Currently the only cylinder head available from Ford is the M-6049-C460. It’s a somewhat easy fix: someone needs to convince Mark Rushbrook, the Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports and/or CEO Jim Farley that it would be in Ford's best interest to provide a part number. As for a Hemi Ford head, what Glidden ran was far removed from what was sold to the general public. Why do I say this? Myself and my entire team were at A/R, Inc. negotiating our contract with A/R to run the Boss 429 on fuel. When Larry Widmer of Endyn returned from Arrow Foundry in the LA area. This was the third day that Larry was at Arrow hand scraping the green sand molds and relocating the ports and “fixing” the combustion chambers. Reason being when Nick Arias II designed the A/R 429 Hemi head he designed it for a blown fuel/alcohol application. The port runners were too large for a normally aspirated application as were the combustion chambers. Once I had my lawyer get me out of the contract with A/R, Larry was a huge help to me in designing all three stages of the Seyler Boss of Bosses Hemi head. The Hemi head could be made competitive with the information Larry had and provided to me. However again there is no “approved” Hemi Ford currently in production. It will be interesting to see what Ford does.

Thanks for chiming in with the story Chuck, isn't it funny how just one drag race fan at the corporate level, could have changed so many racers fortunes. Side question; how did you aquire Stack-On tool boxes as a sponsor for your Top Fueler years ago?
