While this looks promising FORD enthusiasts shouldn’t get their hopes up. Permit me to explain. Quoting the NHRA rule book - “CYLINDER HEADS Hemi, canted-valve or wedge cast heads permitted. Aftermarket heads permitted if designed and cast with OEM approval, and currently accepted by NHRA. Accepted cylinder heads: Ford cylinder head, part/casting number M-6049-E460, or part/casting number M-6010-JC50, or part/ casting number M-6010-JC51. All heads designed and cast after 2/1/1991 must include OEM part/casting number plus OEM logo identification, and must be NHRA-accepted”. Currently the only cylinder head available from Ford is the M-6049-C460. It’s a somewhat easy fix: someone needs to convince Mark Rushbrook, the Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports and/or CEO Jim Farley that it would be in Ford's best interest to provide a part number. As for a Hemi Ford head, what Glidden ran was far removed from what was sold to the general public. Why do I say this? Myself and my entire team were at A/R, Inc. negotiating our contract with A/R to run the Boss 429 on fuel. When Larry Widmer of Endyn returned from Arrow Foundry in the LA area. This was the third day that Larry was at Arrow hand scraping the green sand molds and relocating the ports and “fixing” the combustion chambers. Reason being when Nick Arias II designed the A/R 429 Hemi head he designed it for a blown fuel/alcohol application. The port runners were too large for a normally aspirated application as were the combustion chambers. Once I had my lawyer get me out of the contract with A/R, Larry was a huge help to me in designing all three stages of the Seyler Boss of Bosses Hemi head. The Hemi head could be made competitive with the information Larry had and provided to me. However again there is no “approved” Hemi Ford currently in production. It will be interesting to see what Ford does.
