Kurt Busch tests....

I understand the exposure will be great for the sport and NHRA, but I thought NHRA Required "grade points" to enter a national event in that class??:confused:

I recently had a discussion with a D 3 NHRA Stock Eliminator Racer and I asked the question about the Grading Points. He said-yes, you need to have a certain amount of Grading Points to race an NHRA National event-but if the Class is not full and you have the $$$ and meet all the safety & licesening criteria you can race!!!!! So,yes he is Kurt Busch- but don't worry NHRA will get his $$$!!!:eek:

Please forgive my limited knowledge of NASCAR but is Kurt the "good" one or the "bad" one?

Billy, wish Kurt was running across Hwy 1 twice a year still!

I wished i knew he was across town testing when he was myself... been a long time since i taked to him.. goes back to when i lived in Ga and he came by and hung out at the company i wirked at one night... fun as hell... he's alot of fun to hang around...

as far as across the street.. that ship has sailed and sunk... so i don't even give it much thought any more....lol

This "great","huge" media hype and results to drag racing will last about as long as his first round loss..just 10 seconds

Bobby Bennett is right on in his article.

A lot of sportsman racers whine about not ever getting any exposure and here comes built-in exposure and they piss and moan about a silly technicality. Kurt Busch is NOT taking anyone's spot. Kurt Busch is paying to be there just like the rest of you. He is going to park in the sportsman pits with the rest of you. STFU and beat him, shake his hand at the top end and thank him for coming. I can guarantee you this, whichever of the whiners beat him will the first to crow about beating him. Hell, they will probably tell their grandkids about it.

I have never pulled for either of the Busch brothers in anything ... but goodness gracious it would be so awesome if he won the Wally.

I'd have to respecfully disagree with you a little bit, Chris. First of all, the media exposure will be on Kurt Busch...............not Super Gas. The only extra media exposure the class will get is going to be centered around him. It won't do the class itself anything significant because even if he raced in the class every free weekend he had, the extra people he would draw in would soon see the class for what it is, that being a technically challenging class that is only interesting to those of us who have or continue to keep competing in it. It's not entertaining to watch for the casual fan and because of that, they will soon migrate to the faster and louder cars that all other casual fans do.

Your points about him paying and parking with everyone else are well taken. However, understand that the only reason he isn't taking someone else's spot is because the field isn't full. If the field was full and others who have dedicated their time and money supporting the sport by racing Divisionals earning the almighty grade points were turned away, then this wouldn't be right. You call this a silly technicality, but the bottom line is that many of us have spent a significant amount of time and money over the years competing in these Divisionals for the chance to race for the big Wally and I don't think it's fair that their feelings are being undermined for this media blitz that will be so very short lived that it will do nothing significant for the class of Super Gas in the long run.

I'm not trying to get in a pissing match with you, Chris. Just my thoughts.......
