I haven't seen the car since they painted it green but yep I've seen it run at Route 66, and I'll be there Saturday to see it run again!

Always has always will and when they keep blowing up and putting parts in the stands they'll have to go to 1/8 and then they'll be blowing up sooner where more spectators sit. What's it gonna take a dead spectator to wake them up?

Actually spectators are much safer today than during the "golden years". During the '60s-'70s and even 80s parts were constantly leaving the fuel cars. Clutches were coming out, and blowers were going sky high. Never going to be 100% safe for everyone, unless you don't fire them.

Sure did. 5.28 (new et record for fuel altered) @ 275 mph. The same drivetrain combo that is in John Lawson's car

Why do these videos always sound better than ESPN's broadcast?

Quite a bit of the different sound is a result of different ignition timing.

And possibly a little more than 90% in the tank.

Also lack of running the audio through a compressor/limiter to squash the dynamic range.

Didn't Steve Pleugers car have a single Mag and Pump about 8-10 years ago, ran a 5.22 best that I saw, may have run quicker!

I kind of chuckled when I read this, but reality is with the 16-car or short fields that are common nowadays, it could happen!
