if he is innocent and moves to drag racing, what a shot in the foot
to nascar..............new drag racing fans will emerge almost overnight.

god i hope not. he has very little fan following, not to mention he has been with some of the best teams with little or no success and was always quick to point out the faults and air dirty laundry of the team. who needs that!

Ummm...
Who is Jeremy Mayfield?
He was a nobody in Nascar, so why would Nascar fans suddenly pay attention to him in a lesser sport?

the truth only hurts once....

The only memorable on track thing Mayfield has ever done was bumping Dale Earnhardt Sr. out of the way on the last corner of the last lap to win at Pocono in '99 or '00.

I agree that he was basically a nobody over there, but if he is innocent then he should be able to race wherever he wants, including NHRA.

Lastly, just because someone once raced in NASCAR does not mean if they start racing in another sanction that it is going to be instant fan base, unless it is Dale Eanhardt Jr.

If Jeremy came to the NHRA.. took a drug test .. and passed it.. and went racing no problem...

IMO.. i think if he did come race in the NHRA he would get a bit more press from mainstreme than you might think ..just because of his past and accused past(remember he has not convicted of anything and no charges have ever been filed.. just NASCARs accusations)...

Also IMO... considering how NASCAR had covered up several other items over the years for top named drivers...and run off other drivers with lesser names over the years..... i kind of agree he was made and example of with a failed drug test...untill i see pics of him smoking crack i believe he is not guilty of what NASZAR says he has done... no matter how stupid the story gets...lol

I heard thru the grapevine he was seeking primary sponsorship from"Reynolds Wrap" and hopefully associate sponsorship from "Bic lighters"

Not sure if I want to laugh or cry with that reaction. I've hear of the kid, couldn't put a face to the name until I read the attached article, and had no clue he wasn't driving.

Does Drag Racing need the drama attached? Personally, I think not. We have too many drivers now with the required skill set sitting on the sidelines.

out to get ya? Not part of the click? Names driving hung over or still with booze on their breath?

Here's a quarter, call someone that gives a flyin' Popsicle...

d'kid

Those are the issues with Jeremy. Let him continue to cause problems elsewhere...

After reading the interview, the old saying "Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black" comes to mind.

I know...I know, but I'm old.:D

That is one, another bright spot for Jeremy was making the Chase 2 years in a row, one getting in on the last night by winning the race and leading the most laps. While he is not a Jimmie, Jeff or Jr, he isn't a nobody either. Give the guy some respect and let the courts decide his fate.

Regardless of any past Jeremy Mayfield may have, I look at it as another car helping to fill a field in one of the top categories that have been down on cars! Bring him over! I don't think we'll see any negative press directed towards the NHRA sanction and the professional drag racing scene could use more fresh faces in the line up! Keep 'em coming!

OK. For all those saying he is a nobody, how many drivers in any sport have had a whole series of commercials based on them? How many have beaten (at his own game) a legend of their sport for a nationally televised victory? How many have multiple victories at the top level of their sport............. :)

So if if a drag racer "speaks his mind" its a good thing--but if a NASCAR guy does its airing dirty laundry?
I'm not a fan or hater-but you remember his gripe about his team owner not spending anytime at the shop-and spending it all with a female developmental driver? Soon there after the team was sold -and Everham had a new (20 years younger than he) bride?
