Interesting JFR rumor.

Watched some of the live ESPN3 broadcast and John Force apparently said "if all comes to fruition we might see Larry Dixon as a teammate to Brittany."

Awesome. Hope this becomes true as I would love to root for Larry Dixon again. :D

This has been a long standing rumor since I believe as early as January.

Yeah, but I do not recall it comin' straight from the horse's mouth :D

It never did. It's always been publicly said that, "this (2 TF Team) is Force's idea fpr 2013," but he has yet to officially say anything about it to the media himself. Then again since there really is no proof that Force ever said it except for "the sources" that claim he has, Larry has been pretty public about 2013 being a year where he goes solo and is close to signing something.

I hope so....Someone that can have Larry drive on merit instead of money...

Now, back to the derailment.

Key word, IF, funding can be found............

I hope they can find funding, but in this environment it is easier said then done.

John's always managed to come up with the money he needs, even in lean times.

Like he said in that one Castrol commercial, "they eat pretty good!!!:)

Well, he's in the Dote ride this weekend. Generally speaking..posts don't mean sh!t because who the hell knows what's going to happen.

Best of luck to all. Just hate to see Hillary pushed away.

I'm sure Larry is open to any possibility, whether it's his own team,a deal with Force, Vandergriff, the Dotes, etc. IMO the path of least resistance would be to bring money to one of these teams that already has an infrastructure, and better yet the ability to have a teammate. But again, I'm sure Larry is open to any of these scenarios.

John is not fielding a second car. He's only going to have the one with Brittany and that's it.

That's what I always figured. This has always been a very unofficial rumor for months now and there has never been any proof that John said anything like this. It was always, "John said." I think it's more the superpower team people would like to see.

As for the rest of the thread, I think Larry is ready to explore any or all options, but I think he's being smart about this and I think there is a reason why he has not been racing at events prior to this one. He simply doesn't want to drive for a team that can collect 6-10 round wins and that's it, he wants to drive for a team that actually has enough together to contend for the title.

It's harsh when you think about it, but look at the countdown and think to yourself who actually has the power to contend for the trophy. Qualifying for the countdown was the first battle, now i won't name teams, but realistically speaking some just dont have what it takes to challenge for the title and I think that stops some drivers from driving for just any team.

I think Dixon is giving serious consideration - and following it up with some exploratory action - to being a team owner. He's deferred to it more than once. In the meantime, ya, he'll be glad to drive. As for him not wanting to drive for a team that can only collect 10 round wins rather than contend for the title, I'm not totally buying that - because that's exactly what he's doing right now. Driving a car that can't contend for the title.

But at least he's back in action, letting potential sponsors know that HE still has the right stuff.

You have to remember this is only a 3 race deal, championship long decided as far as Larry's fate. I feel his intent was to shake rust off, not caring if the team is capable of winning the 12 rounds. I do bet you when LD is back on his terms it will be with a team that he is gonna make sure is more than capable of winning all 96 rounds of racing in 2013. Now will any team win 96 rounds, that is HIGHLY unlikely and I doubt it will ever be done, but I think you understand what I am getting at. AJ and Schumacher won 76 and appeared in 85 of the 96 back in 08. I think that is a record that could stand forever. Records are meant to fall, but I think some in this sport could actually be safe.

Holy schnikees, someone mark down the date! I think me & Patrick actually agree on something....:D
