Indy news and rumors
We had a crack team of 6 secret agent reporters on hand at Indy trying to uncover the dirty secrets behind the Questing journey as we chase for the cup or whatever the new points scam is called.
The brave 6, sometimes referred to as the psycho six, interviewed the people in the know, asked the tough questions and came up with some pretty shocking information. These rumors have yet to be 100% confirmed. Apparently in the effort to get as much ink as nascar the points change was only the tip of the iceberg.
Due to the super secret agent status of these reporters I'll leave them anonymous unless they wish to reveal themselves.
-Rusty Wallace will be driving a Toyota Pro Stock car next year
-After winning a race, drivers will do donuts on the return road or in the grass. Frank Hawley will be providing classes on the proper way to spin a dragster
-Restrictor plates will be required for all of the tracks with short shutdown areas.
-No more DQ for crossing the centerline, so people can feel free to give their opponent a little love tap into the wall. This figures to create fireworks as once the quest begins a team driver in 9th, an out of the hunt, will be able to take out the number 1 guy to help his teammates.
-pit stop in the middle of the race. Now there are actually 2 plans with this one and they are trying to figure out which would be best. One involves a midrace pit stop the other has it happening right after the burnout
-no more lights on the score board signaling who wins. There will be flag man with checkered flag sitting atop them
-oil downs with result in teams being black flagged
-Sadly there will no longer be a tree, the starter will yell drivers start your engines then drop the green flag for them to go.
-no more qualifying based on times. There will now be provisional's, owner points and past champs allowed to enter. This will make for uneven fields though and with the effort to keep the racing to 4 rounds some races may have more than 2 cars racing at once. This will allow drafting to enter the sport.
