But is Chevys presence because Chevy is involved, or because the Camaro body is supposedly the most aerodynamic? I’ve heard from several people that the Mustang body is just as aerodynamic if not better, but I’ve also been told there isn’t enough proof with those cars to justify a switch when the Camaro is more than proven. In a class that is as close as Pro Stock and Pro Mod, you don’t want to give yourself any disadvantage by running a body that’s less aerodynamic. And as far as the get a life comment, everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you have always went to an ice cream shop and had several different flavors, then they start only having one flavor, you’re gonna get tired of that ice cream shop and the same flavor over and over. That’s Pro Stock in its current form.

I cannot remember the exact number but I heard Richard Freeman say the Mustangs they run are little slower than the Chevys because of better Aero for the Chevys. I would think he would know.

r. freeman discusses this topic today on WFO with joe c. .... he believes there may be different
mnfgr's next year (ford for example), that it may be easier to adapt. also mentioned there will NOT be one exclusive throttle body.

How much longer will they even have this as a car class. With so many mfg going away from cars and replacing them with crossovers will the class move to escapes and blazers soon ? :)

Good question, although not limited to PS, or Drag Racing alone for that matter.

and consider this: the most common car in PS hasn't been made for what, almost 3 model years now?

That, I would think, would be the driver (pardon the pun) for dislike of the category as opposed to a general dislike of the bow-tie models themselves. I'll confess to a preference for GM but the above makes me rethink the purpose of the class certainly. PS is hanging on by virtue of inertia now.

i think the question is, can elite and kb/titan sustain enough engine lease customers to support the PS program
as per nhra rules and format? ....... if PS is limited to 500 c.i., but will now move to throttle body configuration,
how many people (jerry tucker, v. nobile, l. lottig for example) will opt to go MMPS racing instead?
all the same or similar body styles does not bother me. nhra PS is a tuner's puzzle. you have to appreciate what
goes into every run. incredibly complex machines.

That complexity is what is killing the class. Since every damn thing in that class is spec, only those with extraordinary time and resources will figure it out. I can see a day when a team will get tossed after a run because they used non NHRA approved Dzus fastener heads with the slot turned the wrong way.

You will never see The Surfers style team prevail in Pro Camaro.

not sure where this evidence of prostock dying is coming from. The class is about as popular or unpopular as it was 25 years go. There's still enough competitors interested in racing, to fill 16 car fields, although i thought after the Cuadras quit, that would be a problem. it's a niche class within in a niche sport and the only alternative to racing in the nitro classes, where the cost is exponentially higher

Just being able to "fill" a field is the first sign, used to be 8 cars would be bumped out.
