Goodbye Bandimere (1 Viewer)

Well…. apparently they are actually building the new track. Won’t be the same, but it will be good I bet.
It’s been a very slow process but hopefully we can get a groundbreaking this summer. Very slim chance for a 2027 national event but I think 2028 is reasonable.

I went to Bandimere with Dennis Taylor and the Evil wicked Mean and Nasty funny car. It was raining heavy and they announced that the rain should stop by 3 PM. 2:45 it stopped at 2:45 there were zero spectators in the stands, at 3:30 the stands were packed. they all must have been settling in their cars. LOL John Bandimere told me look a how close the housing is coming too the track it won't be long for the track, and it wasn't. I loved the place and the fantastic spectators.

Such a shame, there will likely never be another track quite like it in terms of setting. I know the scenery looked great on TV, can only imagine what it looked like in person. Truly regret not having been able to get there once.

This was taken at the last National Event from the Top Eliminator Club. The roof on the left is the tower.

My wife and I went to Bandimere in the early 2010s. We had a great time. We sprung for tickets in the Top End Club, and they were well worth it.
Of all the tracks we have attended over the years, Bandimere is the only one we wanted to go to again after we finished going to all the national event tracks.

Yeah, those mini-showers are constant summertime interruptions in that part of the world but as you saw, they're one-and-done and then it's back to racing. Things I remember about Bandimere was the first time I watched Buddy Ingersoll race his Pro Stock V6 Buick ( I was completely blown away by a full size doorslammer that ran high 7s at 5800 feet), the disappointment when my hometown hero Eddie Hill lost in the final to Gary Beck due to a faulty reverser and the time my wife and I went to see a big Fuel Altered meet and I was instantly hit with what turned out to be a week-long battle with the flu 10 minutes before we arrived at the track. I hated the flu but I hated missing the Altereds more.

The best memory was taking my 75 year old Dad to the only drag race he ever attended in his life to Sunday's Nationals eliminations. He was more of a competition aviation guy but he certainly had a good time watching the ground-bound counterparts.
