They featured this thing on "Two Guy's Garage" on Speed after he'd bought it.

What a beast!!

They took it for a drive on LA city streets. Everytime they blipped the throttle, the car would rock over from the torque. Other drivers were looking at it like it was an alien spacecraft.

It was great!:D

The Blastolene Special was built by artist Randy Grubb. Randy did his art in a number of fields, including glass, but has finally settled on vechiles.

His deal is to make the vehicles so outragious that you have to do a double take when you see them. He makes everything oversize but to correct porportions so when a person is by it it looks a lot bigger than if you see a photo of it by itself.

The Blastolene Special has some running gear out of old trash trucks to get to oversize look.

If you read Hot Rod Magazine, I believe it was last month, they had a feature on Randys motorhome that he built from a GM motorhome and a white truck.

We got to visit with him at SEMA for a bit and catch up on what he is up to. My mother worked for his grandfather for 28 years. Back then I knew him as this little kid.

Today he builds some really cool stuff.

Randy's work is awsome, I saw Leno's tank Car when it was a Gale Banks shop on the dyno a few years ago, it is mind boggling.

Sometime after Jay bought the "tank Car", he was out driving it and somewhere out in the valley it lost it's oil and damaged the engine.

The guys at the garage started scouring the country and found a couple of those tank engines that were new, or close to new. They bought them.

When you go into the work shop part of Jay's place there is one area that has new engines lined up. 572 big blocks, and his tank engines.

Here are some photos and a story on the 15th annual John Force Racing Holiday Car Show.

And a few more on Facebook

and the latest recreation out of JFR:

I read that this is the car he raced in Australia in the 70's. I've heard some interesting stories about that trip with Densham and how it was his break into F/C racing. Maybe he can share the whole story one day.

have any of the Force FC's done Engine start ups at these things? Bet that alone would bring a ton of people!

Appears it has been cancelled this year, at least the one day car show part. Anyone know why?

I was wondering the same thing, I don't think he had an open house and car show at Indy this year either.

After not receiving an entry I asked.

Several reasons from what I found out. Craig (guy who ran it) is no longer there. Most of the vacant buildings in the area are now occupied which kills parking. There is now an active bus line that runs in front of Force's shop meaning the streets must be clear. After weighing all this in it and more the decision was made to cancel it because there just isn't enough room anymore.

Too bad. Considering the pile of toys the event brought in every year the kids are the real losers in this whole deal.

That would make sense that it was Craig's deal given his background with RG Canning. He was in charge of that back in the 80's when I first met him. Kind of surprised that he's moved on.

JOHN FORCE RACING OPENS DOORS FOR CHiPS FOR KIDS HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
YORBA LINDA, CA

(November 7, 2013) ---
John Force Racing has historically opened their Yorba Linda race shop for one day each year for his Holiday Car Show to support the California Highway Patrol and their long standing CHiPS For Kids Holiday Toy Drive. This year the newly crowned 16-time Funny Car champion John Force will open the doors of his facility at 22722 Old Canal Road, so fans can tour the shop for ten days prior to Christmas. Beginning on December 6th and continuing Monday through Friday until December 19th the shop will be open between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for fans to walk through and see some of the most exciting Funny Cars and Dragsters in NHRA history. Fans will simply need to drop off a new $10 unwrapped toy and they will be offered the opportunity to tour the John Force Racing shop and museum.

The shop will be decorated in a holiday theme and will have on display John Force’s Championship winning Castrol GTX Ford Mustang Funny Car as well as the new 2013 Mello Yello Funny Car world championship trophy. In addition to the championship hardware, Funny Cars celebrating 30 years of John Force’s career will be in display including the original Brute Force Monza, the Leo’s Stereo ‘78 Corvette Funny Car, the Mountain Dew Citation Funny Car, the Brute Force Vega which Force campaigned in Australia, and the Wendy’s Funny Car.

“We have been partners with the ChiPS For Kids Toy Drive for years and years and we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to gather as many toys as possible for the kids of Orange County and beyond. We weren’t able to do our Holiday Car Show this year but I wanted to still do something big for the kids so we are going to offer the shop tours and show our new world championship trophy. We hope everyone will still bring by a toy between December 6th through 19th,” said John Force.

The California Highway Patrol will announce all the CHiPS For Kids drop off locations on December 5th and John Force Racing will also list them on their website John Force Racing - The Official Website.

John Force wishes to thank all of his fans who have donated toys for children throughout the years and hopes everyone has a great Christmas holiday.
