I was actually watching the end of the IRL race and I just heard Marty doing a standard promo for the race. He just mentioned Ashley the same way Danica is mentioned when they promo IRL races...I didn't hear anything that indicated Ashley had already won the race

and the fact that the final round hadn't even taken place when Marty made the statement makes it hard for me to believe it was anything other than just a normal promo...

i really like marty, but he spoiled it for me ! he didn't have to say Ashley's name, just the comment "you wont wanna miss it" was the clue. To the seasoned drag racing fan, all it took was some deductive reasoning to figure out what he was talking about. his comment implied something special happened so what incident in Atlanta could make the IRL announcer say that ? -- something in pro stock ? i doubt that very much ! --- something in top fuel ? the only thing that coulda produced that statement in top fuel is perhaps a win by Hillary, but she lost 2nd round so that wasn't it. All the big name contenders in FC have already won a race, so the only thing left was either force winning his 500th or the biggest name in drag racing, Ashley F. getting her first win !! ...... just call me lieutenant Colombo

I have the ....sigh...... opinion, that the win was legit, That this speculation has put a cloud of suspicion over what I think is definitely a good win.

That those Bozo's over at Sportcenter (that BTW, almost everyone here almost everyone throws under the bus when ESPN delays the telecast in favor of mixed doubles aquatic otter wrestling) all of a sudden become instant Drag Racing experts.

I don't need to be right, I am only concerned with being happy (right raises blood pressure, take my word on that one)

If it was covered yet in specifics......I apologize. I got a little tired of reading through this drivel, but after listening to the end of the race that ran over....

All Marty said was 'Coming up next, the Summit Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals. And you don't want to miss it! All I can tell you is, it is gonna be worth the time invested!'

I heard NO mention of even a racer's name! And that would have been about 7:20 et.

Kelly they showed Danica's and Ashley's picture side by side as he said it. I had no idea the Atlanta race ran late. I figured the race was over and that Ashley had won. Apparantly at that point the final hadn't been run yet .

I guess I don't consider John reaching another milestone that big of a deal. Ashley winning - a big deal.
So that's what I figured had happened. Either way Marty ruined the show. You know seeing that that AT LEAST she's made the final. So every round you watch she's in , you know the outcome. It's just wrong. They need to remember - for us watching, it's live. It's new. We don't need any hints about what's going to happen, anymore than we'd get if it was live.
