I like the idea of A/FX but I've always wondered how it would succeed being bracketed so closely by Factory Stock and Pro Stock. Apparently, not that well.
No. It wouldn't have made any sense to begin with. The minimum weight/CID for A/Gas was 4.00 which would have required a 3850 pound car running a 969. Made a lot more sense to run a 500-something inch engine in a 2500 pound tri-five Chevy or an Anglia.
They're allowed in MMPS now but I don't know of anybody running an engine bigger than about 820-840 or so.
FSS does run blowers. The big problem is that a "Stock" chassis (even with the cage) will only certify to 7.50 seconds. So every time they approach that number, they need to be pulled back, and that is done by changing the overdrive.
FX cars a full chassis cars inside a "Stock" shell. They are also much lighter and they will certify to 6.00 (just like a PS car). The Stanfields use the same engine for both.
Page 209 of the 2025 Rulebook has the engine and overdrive specs for each make/model.
They should give the FX cars a bigger tire and make that the new Pro stock. Different cars/engines could possibly light a fire under the Pro Camaro deal. Who knows

That's what I get for depending on internet articles which clearly stated no limit but there was nobody known to be running anything bigger than 840. That's not the case; should have asked you first. The actual number is 843.
I really wish you were too busy with your drag racing day job, but , man it is good to hear from you replying with your knowledge and insight! Maybe the Mater's can pitch in and start the ARHRA ?
