Larry, did you ever drive a funny car?
Cliff
Yes a few injected fuel funny cars, 1 was owned by Glenn Solano it was a Cheetah. the front end collapsed in the lights at Lions and I took out 64 feet of metal guard rail. 2 weeks later Glenn came back out with a blown fuel chev corvette for me to drive. after 2 runs I told Glenn I quit. he said you can't quit in the middle of the race, I said i just did. because it was making right turns for no reason. I told Glenn I crashed your other P$#@ of S&*$# and I am not going to do the same with this one. He got the original owner of the car to drive it and he put it into the right rail the very first run. game over.
Glenn was my next door neighbor in Long Beach.

I used to like the injected funny cars at Lions, on alky. Some big names, like Ken Veney, Dale Armstrong & a bunch of others. Always put on a great show. I never saw you drive a flopper, but remember Glenn Solano.

Knowing Glenn like I did, I have no doubt his version of the story would be vastly different from Larry’s. I wish he was still here so we could get his side.
I can hear Glenn’s mumbling now.

I don't like you doubting my true story here. mater a fact it P#@@&& me off. If you have any doubts call Rusty Delling in Utah he will tell you about the Corvette. The Cheetah was repaired later driven by Mike Vansant. I really think you don't you know the real early Glenn Solano. only the one you lived bye in Tulsa Ok. I talked to him there and he was OFF then. If you have any questions please PM me. And if you wish you can block me anytime. I don't give a 💩 what you think or do as a staff member.
PS; I also witnessed a well known (hall of fame member) funny car driver at sears point return to the pit area with Glenn's funny car in the lanes to get his helmet and drove out the gate leaving Glenn there.

Larry, don’t be so sensitive. I am not doubting your story at all. I believe your side. That’s what was cracking me up, because I know Glenn would have told a vastly different version.

Guys, I’m fuzzy on this, I’m an old timer, but that only means I got into drag racing when I was a teenager in the 80s. Factory X was really cool, but the point was lost for me in that they allowed superchargers.

Wasn’t there a class at one time called Junior pro stock? Wasn’t that cube limited small blocks? Why did it fail, and why would it not work today? If it existed and if it failed, I’m sure it would fail today, but I think that would be really cool having small blocks, or whatever the current manufacturers engines are, coyote, hemi, LS,naturally aspirated, run heads up.

Edit, I remember factory modified, still not sure why that one failed

I've watched videos of that thing many times and can't help but wonder how many fans would remain in the stands to watch an outhouse match race instead of bolting for the concession stands. So is that an AA/Fuel Crapper or a B/Fuel?
AA/Fuel Sh@#$&* (AA/FS*), or BowelMovement Fuel Altered (BM/FA).
