Did anyone see the announcement that NHRA will put the same rev limiter on F/C that is on T/F, starting 2018. Should slow them down. I'm still hoping for a 340 run before the end of the year.
Alan, how much of a difference will the rev limiter make in F/C? Will the flops slow down to, say, 334, 335? It's interesting to me that a funny car is like 300 lbs heavier than a dragster, but there is less than 2 tenths difference in ET (the old rule of thumb was 100 lbs = .10). If T/F didn't have the rev limiter, I'd think that by now, 340 would have been run by a dragster. Well, see what happens in 2018.
Sean, Aside from cutting fuel (like I think you have to do in a diesel, my dually at least) how else are you supposed to limit RPMs? My wife's MSD Power Grid, has a number of rev limiters and they all activate via timing retarders.
