Better way to do things....
I 'love' Wildthing, RC and geez... everyone in the Zoo, ect... But CAN the Cr*p and show the runs, not clean ups, starters wipping rain on the track, GET IT ESPN... It's about the RACING... NOT the CIRCUS... okay, I'm a little pissed... but the chick in the Yellow skirt wacking the tennis balls... Nice @$$.

By the way, how do you score tennis?

I was late tuning in..so it all worked out for me.

I just feel glad we got the coverage we did..and besides ..I don't have any control over it..so I'm not sitting on the stool over it.

Great races..congrats to Brandon..TJ..Connolly and Antron..great stuff.

I knew the LIVE tennis match would run long. No prob. Watched it and the ugly girl in black was making a nice comeback.
But to shorten the race coverage for little league?
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:mad:

I sure would like to know who was the person who told the editor of the drag racing show that: 1400 hp Pro-stocks, 3000 hp Alky cars, and 5-6-7-8000, {take you number of the week} hp fuel cars are not what the drag racing fans want to see, and we need to be "more entertained" by filler. Although it was pretty exciting watching Rick S. feel the damp race track.

I didn't mind a few pictures of the zoo, but I would have GIVEN ALL THE CRAP UP TO WATCH SOME FRICKIN DRAG RACING!!!

I like the drag racing on TV if I can not be either A: There, or B: Out running our own car.

I laugh at the little skits and such,,,,,but would somebody get the fact who has some control, I watch the show to see: Racing, Pit action, Interesting discussions with crew chiefs. I do not need to be entertained by anything other than what I turn the show on to watch,,,,That would be DRAG RACING just in case you missed the whole point to my post!

I am quite bitter about the broadcast. But, don't knock Little League. I have covered LL and these kids earn their time in the sunshine. It's not their fault.
It's ESPN. They squeeze a tape-delayed event in between two live events. Horrible scheduling, IMHO.
I was cursing a blue streak once the 30 minute mark had passed. And I like tennis. My DVR is set to be installed on Tuesday, so I plan my weekend around watching the coverage. I rushed home to watch the race.
So, here it is, plain and simple. I was was f&*king furious. This to me is equivalent of my friend showing up 45 minutes late to go with me to the race in Kent three weeks ago. And you know why I'm furious?
Because, it's disrespectful. It is a complete failure to comprehend the passion of drag racing fans. Bad planning and we're screwed over. Absolutely one of my biggest pet peeves.
I enjoy watching all of the pro classes.
Oh, I know pissing and moaning here does little more than allow me to vent.

I just have to remember to set my DVR to record long once it's here.
Curse you, ESPN, and your crap schedule.

At least I picked one of the class winners this week.

Heaven forbid if any of you have kids who acquire some degree of success in stick & ball sports. Let the kids play. It's a once in a lifetime experience...geez.

ESPN sux period--I emailed a nice long letter. Complete BS.

Heaven forbid if any of you have kids who acquire some degree of success in stick & ball sports. Let the kids play. It's a once in a lifetime experience...geez.
I get the feeling drag racing is about the same level of importance as tractor pulls, drag boats, and log rolling to espn .

sure let the kids play. and let their coverage start late. just like the nhra's did.

ESPN's coverage always blows...I mean we are talking about a sports network that thinks that a spelling bee is a sport!
I wish Speed or some other network would take over the contract.
If not Speed then something that a majority of people can get access to.
If the NHRA really, truly wishes to promote their sport, then they need to address this issue and soon.
Just my 2 cents folks

You're right Tony...

What I'm saying is ESPN screwed up with Fluff...

60 Passes x 1.5 minutes equals an hour and a half... our 15 minutes of commercials an hour, a two hour package. And I really think you can show a run, with replay and comentary in a minute and a half or less. cut it to 1.25 and you pick up 15 minutes for winner interviews and fluff.

I enjoyed the racing. But I would have rathered they start the damn thing at 9-10pm..after the Little League game and give us the whole show..along with the 15 min of commercials..or more..an hour!

Was it me or did it seem like they crammed all the commercials for a three hour show into a 2 hour and 15 minute show? I swear that going into the semis of both PS and PSM they did the 2 minute recap (due to time constraints  ) and then another 2 minutes of commercials between highlights of each of the two classes.

Since we've all been screwed out of almost an hour of race coverage, maybe ESPN should give us an extra hour of coverage at Indy. :D

Peace,

I don't know.... ARRRGHHH!!!! I hate getting screwed out of Pro Stock! I despise getting pre-empted period. But, tennis fans would probably hate "those damn car people", if they got shut off too. It's a double edged sword for ESPN. I'm not defending them, just trying to be fair. I have a DVR, so I typically watch it once it's done anyway (mostly to miss the commercials). I can't really complain because I don't plan my evening to sit and watch it live, but it still sucks. BUT - I just have to tell myself, it's still way better than not seeing it all.

I watched commercials this evening and they had drag racing in between them. What a treat!

Show ONE run then have 5 commercials. Show another run, then another 5 commercials. The delay for tennis was bad enough but ESPN is really getting carried away with all those commercials. Thank God for my DVR. I always watch the show after it is over and zip thru the commercials. So, really the only sponsors that get my attention are the ones painted on the race cars.:D

Come on ESPN. Your greed is showing.

Tom Compton has just been punked by ESPN. You will never see a NASCAR event preempted or started late over a Tennis match but they damn sure will do it to a Drag Race. Then to top it off NHRA decides to shorten the telecast by zipping through Pro Stock Car and Bike. Their coverage and treatment of any other category that doesn't have a blower on it sucks. I knew there was a reason I dispised watching NHRA on TV. They always have and always will short Pro Stock, I guess we forgot that the Fuel cars made drag racing. If the Pro Stock Owners banded together and raised some hell NHRA would tighten up and spread the wealth money wise and tv coverage wise. It I had the money Evan Knoll of Torco has I would pay every Pro Stock team the winners purse not to go to INDY to see how NHRA would do their race coverage. Something needs to be done but the fans don't have any power to do it, only the racers can. I know If I were a sponsor I'd let NHRA know their crap is getting a little old. To add insult to us Pro Stock fans they had to the nerve to show that lame Scelzi Says crap. They blow.

The reason they won't preempt a NASCAR race is because it is LIVE. Drag races are taped.

Hey, I'm not sticking up for ESPN doing this, but the 'they don't do it to NASCAR' isn't the right argument. If Drag Racing were condusive to live coverage, I think it would be a whole different deal.

And yes, it sucked watching pro stock zip by. Not the best day for coverage, that's for sure.

Just loved the "time constrants" which means we screw YOU on racing so we can do the normal J**k-off ads:rolleyes: Ya all are beating a dead horse bitching to ESPN. NHRA needs to be flooded with phone calls, e-mails and faxs, and then just maybe nhra might take some notice.(right)
Been this way since nhra has been on the tube. The only time it wasn't was back in the "OLD" days when they (nhra) did 3 all day pay-for-views. But nhra figured they wern't getting enough $$$ off it and it dissapeared:mad: And now the Marty haters can warm up the keyboards, cause he's BACK next week.:D

Guys... the commercials are never going to be cut. What do you think pays the network's bills? Its not viewers sitting at home complaining, that's for sure! Free media (and even paid media) is all brought to you by the revenue ad dollars brings in. Voice your concerns with the network, but ad time isn't going to be a valid argument to them.
