Please don't speculate on what happened and insert your opinion on the track, NHRA'S safety policy or what "SHOULD BE DONE" when a guy just lost his life, a wife lost her husband and racers lost a good friend... Have some respect for ****s sake folks...

Sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with Neal's soul and his family and my hope is that it is a long time before another racer loses his/her life racing. We've lost way too many good people in the last few years.

This is a sad situation. I think the answer is that some tracks like englishtown and pomona should be 1000 foot tracks for everyone and tracks like Gainesville should be quartermile for everyone. Just my opinion.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. I knew of the crash when I left for the track and heard the tragic news on news radio 880 when I was almost to the track. As with every death, we will learn from this and make the sport safer so this will not happen to another driver.

Well said, Michael. My job deals with the aftermath of crashes (fire/EMS) and maybe if some folks had the "opportunity" to be in the middle of an incident, they may not be so seemingly unfeeling with some comments. I guess I just don't get that excited about how this will shake out in the NHRA picture or anyone else's picture other than friends and family. How about we (like many have done) show a little compassion and pay our respect to a fellow racer.

Why are you blaming this on the track Rex?

Although I now regret my rash comment last night (that was from shock, turned to anger), sorry, E-Town is the second shortest track on the schedule.

And the trap is the shortest.

In addition to Parkers accident, two Pro Stock bikes went off the end too last night.

I was crewing on a TAFC there at a divisional several years ago, and we had to wait in line for almost two hours, as two TAFC's ahead of us went off the end.

I rode my 10 second ET bike there in the eighties, and had to get on the binders very quickly and hard to slow down. At the old Connecticut Dragway, Epping, Lebanon Valley, I could coast and take my gloves off if I wanted before the turn.

So go ahead, keep these cars running there, this is JMO anyway, hey, what do I know?
