I think I agree with Sweeney on this one....
Ron is a PROFESSIONAL race car driver. He's been driving these things every weekend for over two decades now. I'm pretty sure his judgment as an experienced driver sitting in the seat is far better than a keyboard jockey who's never sat in a funny car. If he thought he could make the turn and get it stopped (which he did) then who am I to question it?
There is a reason why the general public/spectators are not allowed in the shutdown area. The people who are allowed, fully understand the dangers involved.
This topic reminds me of a similar one that was discussed on this site a few years ago..... the danger of being near a running fuel car on the starting line. It was ironic that ALL of the people on this site who were expressing concerns, were people who have never been part of a race team, and have never stood on the starting line.... yet they fealt they knew better than people who are on the starting line every weekend. Amazing.
