CAPPS RUNAWAY

Hope you are kidding.

I'm sure he knows that Maple Groves pits are to the left, then he's kidding.....if not.....

worse was the fact that Capps crossed in front of his competitor(Force) when he turned right

I think I agree with Sweeney on this one....

Ron is a PROFESSIONAL race car driver. He's been driving these things every weekend for over two decades now. I'm pretty sure his judgment as an experienced driver sitting in the seat is far better than a keyboard jockey who's never sat in a funny car. If he thought he could make the turn and get it stopped (which he did) then who am I to question it?

There is a reason why the general public/spectators are not allowed in the shutdown area. The people who are allowed, fully understand the dangers involved.

This topic reminds me of a similar one that was discussed on this site a few years ago..... the danger of being near a running fuel car on the starting line. It was ironic that ALL of the people on this site who were expressing concerns, were people who have never been part of a race team, and have never stood on the starting line.... yet they fealt they knew better than people who are on the starting line every weekend. Amazing.

Panties sure seem to get easily bunched now days. Lol.

The Maple Grove shutdown area crosses a road, like Columbus did. Don't think there will be much choice, other than the sand trap.

or this one....

I was at the race and was relieved to hear Johnny was ok...and when Scott Kalitta wrecked there years later I thought he would be too:(

contrast the setup and safety equipment at the top end of E-Town in 1990 and at this incident in 2009, Alexis Dejoria's crash 1 year after Scott's accident
