Don, if it makes you sick to read the crap on here, you can play this fun game.

When one of the Mater megaposters (who is very proud of their "Mater Cred") types something that is so stupid you wonder if they have any knowlage of drag racing (or sportsmanship, or business, or ACTUAL competition), just Google their name to see just what relation they have to the racing community.

MANY that mouth off here have not won a round themselves, owned a car, held a Wally, or employeed anyone who has.

If their Google search reveals mostly posts on the site, ignore their stupidity.

There are a few things going on here that need to be addressed, I think.

1. When will people understand that chat room sites, or whatever else you want to call them, that don't require the use of real names by the posters, have absolutely no relationship to factual reporting. Remember when 'Mater was wide open and the most outrageous things possible were posted on a daily basis? And when someone would post a factual response they'd be flamed for having had the audacity to try and report the truth? The site mentioned as the start of this thread is notorious for its inaccuracies, and by repeating that garbage here and elsewhere all you're doing is perpetuating falsehoods.

As welcome as Don Schumacher or anyone else is on this site, why should Don have to waste his time trying to "explain" himself when it shouldn't be necessary?

2. Someone asked for reliable web site drag racing reporting. I can name three right off the top of my head, and only three, starting with CompetitionPlus.com. Full disclosure: Yeah, I'm a Senior Editor on the site, but we're proud of the lengths we go to to make sure each and every story is as accurate and up-to-date as possible.

Do we make mistakes? Yes, but when they're pointed out to us we make every effort possible to correct those errors.

3. Why, after posts from Don Schumacher and the one from Darr Hawthorne regarding his conversation with Caps about what he's been doing, do some of you keep insisting Caps is going bye-bye?

Probably because you just love the rumors and, as jack Nicholson said, "You can't handle the truth!"

Can't figure out why some on here are in denial, don s. said on ESPN, and he knew that it would be aired, that HE decided to dump Cory.

That was AFTER the press release that said it was Fram's decision.

And now because I believe what don s. said and not the press release, I am bad mouthing him?

Like I stated before:
Looks to me like drag racing is being prostituted for a quick buck.

And some on here appear to be ok with that.

what rock are you living under, drag racing is all about the quick buck today as it takes alot of bucks to make a quick buck so your expected to deliver on it. companies make decision's before a press release gets issued!

i so believe it. I left this board for 5 years, 5, i came back in 2007 for a week saw the same crap, i decided to give it a full return now and the site is no better than it was. I don't bash people, I DO WHAT THIS SITE IS INTENDED FOR, comment on the facts of drag racing and not form conclusions about people based on KNOWLEDGE THAT YOU DONT HAVE AND IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

Now we may of lost Don, Just like the others in the past, and for what, WHY CAN'T THIS SITE BE USED THE WAY IT'S MEANT TO BE USED, I THINK I MAY JUST ABANDON IT AGAIN BECAUSE SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE DRIVING AWAY THE GOOD AND JUST SO FAR FROM THE INTENDED PURPOSE OF THIS SITE.

I hope Don Schumacher decides to stick around on here. I love drag racing but its threads like this that made me get off the message boards maybe I came back to soon though my fault for posting in it but I had good intentions though but oh well.

Some of you really make looking at this board painful. I have 100 plus DSR and DSM employees.

First, Ron is driving the NAPA car and where this rumor came from is really amazing but I guess some people just like to bash me.

I make changes in my operation for many reasons and no one on this board deserves or needs to know all of the facts. Why should I say anything negative about any of my employees or ex employees? I try to be positive in my comments about my people and I will always do that. I take responsibility for the things I do and I see no reason to push the responsibility in any other direction since it lands on my desk last, that is what happans because I am the last one to make the decision.

Some people on here have caused a lot of good owners, drivers and sponsors to not even look at this board anymore and really not comment about the threads and I am now one of them also. Have a ball and bash me all you want. I will continue to race and do the best I can for my sponsors, employees and NHRA.

Wheres the applause button.

Thank You Jon, Well Said, And Jon And Bobby since 2004 comp plus has been one of the first sites i go to on the net rvery morning and it stays that way cause why people? they tell it like it is with truth. Comp plus are drag racing's muck rakers and it sure takes care of all that yellow journalism.

Any news on when you guys are gonna put up a new car gallery?

Let's sum up the responses on this thread, shall we?

Not counting this post, there are 48 before me, 35 before Don's reply and twelve after. I've gone back and reread every one of them at least twice more. Let's look at the ones pre-Schumacher, since the 12 after his are totally supportive and positive, for obvious reasons. Here's how it breaks down.

3 posts directly insulting Don Schumacher and/or DSR's operation, 9% of the total.

17 are analytical-style, people like myself expressing their opinions on what they believed happened, and why. Not necessarily supporting or degrading, just understanding that it's business in today's world of corporate sponsored racing and while we may not always like what we see (and I don't always), it IS business-driven and it IS DSR's call. Personally, although the facts are admittedly flawed to varying degrees, these 17 posts are certainly within the boundaries of good taste and common sense. 50% of the total.

13 are in direct defense and support of Don Schumacher and his racing operation. Does anyone here have a problem with another person supporting Don, even if you personally don't support him? I certainly do not. 38% of the total.

And one post, the one that started this thread, fit none of these categories. The poster simply asked if anyone knew the truth. Perhaps the thread should have never been started, but don't blame the guy for doing so. He heard, so he asked. He didn't fan the rumor flames. 3 percent.

So, you've got 4 out of 10 people in direct support, 5 out of 10 logically trying to understand and/or expressing their analysis of the matter at hand, and 1 out of 10 outright negative. And we're discussing one of the highest profile individuals in championship drag racing. I dare say that if we were discussing Jimmie Johnson, Richard Petty, Nolan Ryan, Peyton Manning, Pele, Barack Obama (!) or the Lord, we'd still have our share of boo-birds. Prominent figures from any venue draw such talk and such rumors. It will never be any different.

Not that I'm justifying disrespectful talk; I don't. If any of what I wrote comes across as such, the board (and Mr. Schumacher) have my apologies. My point is that if you look at this thread in its' entirety, it's really pretty much pro-Don or at least I-understand-Don. 90% so.

So, Mr. Schumacher, please reconsider your exit strategy and understand that being who you are, you will invariably become the topic of discussion from time to time. And no one pays attention to the really stupid comments, anyway. No, you don't owe any of us a thing. No, I (and many others) don't subscribe to what appears to be your all-business approach to life. But 90 percent of us on here understand it is YOUR call, and we have the utmost respect for that. That's a pretty good batting average; one that you've earned through years of hard work.

and to think i paid a dollar for all this mess. somebody needs to mop the floor and lay down some new flooring as to how things should work around here. Moderators, Mater Owners, step up and lets make a constitution if need be for this site, there needs to be SOLID ORGANIZATION on here.

This site should be:
1. Post facts or questions
2. Responses to fact or question as well as any expansion of EDUCATED AND INTERESTING discussion.
3. Anyone who makes personal insults or insults about a third parties who's ways of business they know nothing about, needs to be shown the door.
