I missed Head's boomer at Topeka this year -- I was out in the parking lot
eating cheap bratwurst instead of $$$ hot dogs. What are the boomers you
have seen over the years, and if you have pics, that would be cool, too.
I remember reading of a big boomer Hill had back in the late 80's/early 90s. Pretty much all that was left of the engine was the crankshaft and a few con rods and pistons.
I think they went to the TFX block shortly after that.
Which reminds me, I've always wondered if the TFX is forged then machined, or if it is truly billet. Looking at them, it appears that they might very well be forged.
The worst I've actually witnessed was Mark Oswald at the Texas Motorplex about 20 years ago. Crank broke in the lights and most of the car just vaporized. I couldn't find a pic.
