You're saying to change one of the VERY few things that ARE working right. You have your priorities all screwed up. Oust Compton. Oust Light. Oust Paul Page. But not Bob Frey, he's one of the few that IS working correctly.
Until your last post, I thought you were kidding and making a joke. I didn't realize you were off your meds.
actually you'll find most here want alot of things changed. It just appears not Bob, I'll admit I was once very much against his style, but he's improved, I've improved and he brings alot to the table.
On the list of issues facing our sport that need to be fixed Bob is certainly not one of them, Paul Page yes but not Frey.

It's just that Alan does all the Voice-Overs in my Nightmares, while Martin does the Lighting... and they keep speaking of something called Scotch...

A quick "Bob Tale":
In 04' when Jack Beckman first got sick, and it was announced to the Drag Racing world, I went to the Mile Highs with a "mission". I took a copy of National Dragster and wanted every Former, and current world champion to sign a "get well" message for Jack. Well, I was standing under the tower, and was a bit "Shy" about getting the signatures, when Bob asked what I was doing. I told him and he took me to everyone he saw, told them what I was doing, and helped me get over 30 Signatures and messages for Jack. He then looked me dead in the eye, and said...."THAT'S FIRST CLASS KID...Nice Job!"
I have always had respect for this man since then!

woooo Nelly, yes! I even remember him covering a cliff diving competition in Acapulco! By the way, have you ever seen Cheap Seats with Jason and Randy Sklar? It's being re-run on ESPN classic, and one of the twin brothers, when they are covering an old Keith Jackson segment from WWoS has a totally killer Keith Jackson impression, and the other one has Howard Cosell down cold--"Down goes Fraziah! Down goes Fraziah!" Good stuff!

Bob Frey is one of the best he knows a huge amount of information about The Sportsman racer as well as a lot of insight about racing in general, in just about everyones opinion he is one of the best (case closed)
I know they did on the 78 Worlds Strongest man show they quoted the "Down goes fraziah" bit but instead saying "Down goes putski" for Pro Wrestler Ivan "The Polish Hammer" Putski from the WWWF.

Plonski, you chose the wrong person to diss. As previously stated, since the passing of Steve Evans, and Dave (Big Mac) McCleland's retirement from NHRA broadcasting, Bob Frey is THE GUY when it comes to LIVE announcing, although on TV he's relegated to the NHRA Lucas Oil Sportsman broadcasts. If you are "at the track" he is doing alot of the broadcasting from the booth during National events, along with Alan Reinhart. If you don't like him, to each his own, but obviously from the tone of the majority of responses, you are barking up the wrong tree. You still are entitled to your opinion, just most aren't in agreement with you. Hang in there as we aren't throwing you under the bus, just giving you our feedback. Any other announcers you DO like? Or opinions on any burning issues right now? We are all ears.

Next to "Big Mac" Bob is as Old School as you are going to get (sorry Bob) these days. The triple threat of announcing is Brett Kepner,Bob Frey,and Lewis "Stat Guy" Bloom. Put the three of them together at one time, and they make a boring race a whole heck of a lot of fun!! I have exprienced it many times. Between the three of them there is a walking encyclopedia of Drag Racing!!! Add Chris Martin (Drag Racing Online) and you have a Bible of the sport in Info!!! Just My 2 cents. ESPN listen up!!!

I'm another Sportsmen racer who is going to stick up for Bob, plus of course Alan, Leo, Lewis, and Unk (I'm not as familiar with some of the west coast announcers). These guys all know and love drag racing. And I think their love for the sport shows best when they are doing the Sportsmen classes. Not a lot of casual fans may know who the guys and gals driving in the sportsmen classes are or understand the different classes and types of cars, but these guys do and they do a great job of communicating their knowledge and love of these cars and drivers.
The D1 Banquet is this Saturday and I know that Bob Frey is going to have us laughing our asses off a whole bunch of times before the night is over. In addition, he is going to say a whole lot of nice things about the people who are walking on stage to get awards.
