I met Bob at Pomona the last time Kenny B retired. He was standing in a line of about 100 folks wait to get Kenny's autograph. You would think he could get the autograph any time he wanted to but he said fair is fair. The old aspen is probably his I know it will be there when when I get home airport car.

Bob lives in the next town over from where I lived for the first 23 years of my life. That alone makes him a good guy in my book

Copy that, Eric! Just saw Brett on a couple of the pro mod shows on ESPN2 this weekend and I was thinking how I had forgotten how great a job he does--lots of enthusiasm and lots of knowledge--BobF and Brett K would be a great team!!!

I used to really enjoy Brett on the old IHRA shows, kinda made up for Ted Jones who I never really cared for. As far as Bob Frey, he is as knowledgeable as anyone out there and I would much rather see him in the booth than Paul Page. However, I do wonder if some are correct in that a bit more energy in the broadcasts would lead to better ratings on TV. Drag racing is such a high energy sport and maybe a bit more energy in the booth would help it translate it better on TV.
I just had a vision of Chris Farley as a drag racing announcer! Oh my god! That would be some high energy and what a sight! I sure do miss that knucklehead!!!

Another fan of Bob Frey here.
His humor comes at you fast and it is understated which enhances the "connection" to him.
I have a T shirt signed by Bob. I have never washed it.
When I want to introduce new folks to our sport, and can't get them to the track, I often show them recorded Lucas Oil Sportsman coverage precisely because Bob's intelligence puts the sport in a good light.
Here are my top three reasons for keeping Bob Frey in the booth or electing him President:
1) He combines, knowledge, intelligence, and humor.
2) He drives a Pontiac Solstice GXP with a license plate that says "BOBN8TOR."
3) He gives extra points for flames.

Could not agree more.
Bob is "one of a kind" and apparently does not appeal to ALL, but then nobody does. I'd still take him over 99% of all the other track announcers I've listened to in the past 30 years of going to races. Oh, and Alan Reinhart is in that 1% right along with Bob Frey.
Bob Plonski, you are obviously in the minority. How many posts has this thread had in 2 days? And how many are in your camp?
