Is it True your ticket to the race won't get you into the Zoo??? And is it true that it's over a Mile walk to the Zoo from the Track?? Sounds like the Zoo has nothing whatsoever to do with the Races???
Correct on all counts Joe. Look at the track on Google earth. Depending on where you are camped in the zoo, it can be over a mile to get from your campsite to the grandstands. That's why so many people bring 4-wheelers, bikes, and have made their own partywagons to get them from zoo to track.
I've started to lose sleep looking forward to next weekend! I upgraded from a moped to an old honda ATC for this years trip. I'm usually not a drinker and learned a valuable lesson last year -
Recall Friday's qualifying rounds last year got pushed nearly up to sunset. I got back to camp and thought theres no time for dinner, time to start drinking - (first mistake). After 3 or 4 hours of the funnest night in the zoo ever, got back to camp around 12 still pretty drunk (second mistake). At this point, I thought man I'm hungry, so I had a couple hot dogs (third and worst mistake). Got the spins and wildly sick. It's lessons like that one that people generally learn in high school, but because I only started drinking one night a year at BIR I just got that last year.
I'll be there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In the zoo, look for Bill Clinton on an ATC 110 and say hi! In the stands Ill be Sec C row 13 (right above the cutout)
I've heard that as well. I plan on taking the last hour or two before bed to cut out the alcohol and drink water - another thing I didn't do last year. I've been pretty lucky though, no hangovers at the races yet.Nick, just remember to drink plenty of water before going to bed after a night of Heavy drinking! Water re-hydrates your Brain...which causes a Hangover! Works amazing, believe me I've tested that theory many times!
What about the liquor before beer in the clear beer before liquor never been sicker deal? I also thought if you eat bread before you drink (like hot dog and hamburger buns) you have to consume more alcohol to feel the effects, is this true?

jeez joe, i don't know.......why don't you pony up & get up here.
no more excuses.
depends which zoo entrance you select, some cost more than others
usual deal, see you there paul.
Love to Mike, but this close to Indy can't manage it!
Joe you have to go to the zoo at least once, even if it means missing Indy or Dallas. There have been crew guys, that have went in on Friday night, and didn't come out until Monday morning. We use to always get pitted next to the bridge at the entrance of the zoo, and had a blast watching all the cool, weird looking, homemade contraptions going in. We try to find the time to go in a couple times every race if we can. We usually go in on the golf cart, and don't get very far before some one is handing us some beers. There are a lot of cool people in there, and they are having a blast. Joe, I could only imagine the pic's you would come out of there with. That is the one race, where I would have to say, the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence.Love to Mike, but this close to Indy can't manage it!
Hmmm....Brainerd....3 weeks before Indy. Dallas....3 weeks after Indy. You go to Dallas, don't ya? Like Mike said, no more excuses Joe! I know, I know, Brainerd would require extra travel time and extra days off, but I gotta give ya some crap anyways..
