BIR 2015

ok paul, you know if you don't show something really cool will happen at the race this year (on the track )
......and you'll miss it! :D

I just reviewed the entry list this morning, and it looks like the Fuel Classes are ok. Pro Stock car and bike are short, and the Alky classes, even more so. Too bad NHRA won't give ticket discounts for races with short fields, since I'm paying 100% ticket price, I'd sure like to see 100% of a weekend of racing!

I remember people worrying that we'd end up with 8 car fields decades ago. That's because the sport has only gotten more expensive with each passing year. I doubt it will ever get cheaper, does anything? For the most part, we've seen at least 16 cars in each category, obviously there have been a handful of races where a class fell short. On a positive note, there are more part-timers showing up, more often. You might say they are fillers, but I think they're up and comers. We all have to decide how to spend our money, but I wouldn't not attend a race because there were "only" 16 cars per class, or whatever. I think the racing has been great this year, and there's new blood getting involved. I'm looking forward to Indy.

Who gets the bye run in a short field? The top qualifier? If that's the case, I don't like it - I like the possibility of a round one upset.

I'm not going to be there this year. Not because of short fields or anything like that. Instead, we've decided to save our pennies, and cross another race off of our bucket list by attending The Big Go in Indy next year.

David, you won't regret that decision at all. I was fortunate enough to win a trip to Indy back in 2005(thanks to CSK and the fantasy league) and now all I want to do is go back!

I'm completing the circuit this weekend. BIR is the last national event I haven't been to. Crossed Epping off the list earlier this year. My wife and I go to Aruba each August-this year I'm leaving early to fly directly from Aruba to BIR. (Some people have questioned my decision making...)Will be a long day Thursday! Looking forward to seeing the zoo Saturday night. Maybe I can get V to escort me!

I'll be there Friday morning. Looking forward to more of this!

paul pittman ran yesterday in topeka making it to semi-finals running 6.64 on what must have been a rather hot day.
he must be finished with PS to at least not enter as the 16th car this weekend?.....or in t. sportsman trim is his car not legal anymore in PS?

sunday forecast looking like repeat of last year.....hope the finals don't push to indy again.....am optimistic they won't.
