BIR 2015

Wayne Newby, of Sydney, Australia, launched hard and was on a good pass until the engine dropped a cylinder and then it let go with a big fireball.

Spoiler alert...... Hagen goes 3.8something. Antron was quickest ever in top fuel. And wait till you see Courtney's run.

permasmile.....it's all real.
even wilk @ 3.92. It's one for the ages here today and there's still 3 rounds left

And to think there are some who want to go back to 1320.... Please! Drag Racing is still great and if the performances at Brainerd do nothing for you and you still want to boycott events, well it's your loss! My mind is still spinning from today's numbers. Imagine how much quicker Langdon's run would have been if it wasn't dropping 3 cylinders from 700ft on... Mind boggling!

This right here is what is messing up my brain. I didn't see it until the slow mo replay. 5 cylinders. 5.
Wow. I... I.... just am amazed.

A 70 degree track will do wonders...

have to take the time to figure out how many of fastest runs ever just took place in last two days....hopefully somebody will
put a list together summarizing exactly the significance of what just transpired at brainerd.

FC qualifying.....1-9 in 3.9's
TF qualifying.....1-11 in 3.7's
(4) TF runs in 4.6's (record by antron who runs 2 of the 4.6's)
jack resets and backs up FC e.t. record
hagan with stupid unreal run 3.87 and gets MPH record @ 329
wilk w/(2) 3.92's and a 328.70mph, 2nd fastest ever only to hagan's earlier 329
beckman 3.90 to win against hagan 3.94 (fastest side by side FC by a long shot)
299 @ 1/8
massey goes 3.739 @ 332mph......AND LOSES!
todd goes 3.703 @ 330mph.....AND LOSES!
langdon's 4.662 w/cylinders out
crampton 3.695 in final to win

sonoma we were all shocked.....seattle showed it was real
brainerd friday and sat. overcast and warm but not hot so qualifying showed more of the same.
and then yesterday happened....bleachers as full as i've seen any other year;
folks knew something special could happen and they all braved the early rain and very cool temps.
watched these unbelievable performances w/mr. songas....we were beside ourselves all weekend

Definitely one for the record books. Was one of the greatest races I can recall, what a great, great show for NHRA.

Topeka was cool, I was there, but really only 3 runs stand out. 2 4.59's and a 4.88. This race had a long list of incredible runs.

Only races I can think of that might come close might be Indy '92 and Topeka '96!
Indy 92? What happened there, the only run I remember was Bernstein running the 3rd 300mph run of the year. Sure you don't mean Maple Grove 92? I think that's the race where Cory Mac ran the first pass in the 4.7's, Cruz ran the first 5.0, and first 7.0 PS run.

Anyone know who's calling the shots for Brian Stewart? I saw where they interviewed him back in the pit area and it just made me wonder.

This weekend was extra cool for me. Not only did all those great runs happen, but my good friend, Russ Ginger (who's trailer I was staying in this weekend) made it to the final in Super Gas. Unfortunately he lost but we still had a great time going rounds at our home track. And, another friend of mine, Brian Stewart got his first round win in his big show Funny Car against Alexis Dejoria. I had a busy day running between the stands, the staging lanes, the pro pits, and sportsman pits... With all the action going on it was hard to fiqure out where to go next. Lol. On top of all that, I got to spend the weekend with a bunch of friends who I dont get to see very often. I cant remember ever being at a race with this much action going on.

Side note: it's a good thig the on track action was so great because the zoo SUCKED big time this year. I have never seen it that lame and quiet. It was a ghost town compared to any other year.

I ran into Dave Rieff at a gas station on my way home late last night. I talked to him for a few minutes about the event and even he was absolutely amazed with what happened. After a few minutes of talking with each other, we said goodbye.... Dave turned and walked away shaking his head in disbelief while saying "three sixty six, are you kidding me"

It was the best race I've ever been to!!!
