Austin Prock interview regarding his Q4 run (14 Viewers)

They will be back. Too good of a team. To be fair, a lot of teams had trouble with the track. However, Alexis, a JFR car, made it all the way to the final and Jordan made it to the semi's. Then Josh Hart won in TF. They figured something out. I don't know what went wrong with Prock.

IMO

He left a champion team for his own "rights"...

Like others have said, he peed in JF's cheerios and Karma is going to follow him for that alone!

This just shows you how difficult it is to put 12K horsepower to the ground especially with a different motor combination and chassis. Throw in a hot track after stellar test conditions and it is even more difficult.

just remember, not everyone gets the chance to buy your team from a retiring owner. (DSR)
IMO the procks were never going to own JFR. what was left to prove there? especially if this is their
livelihood for years to come. I think they made a bold move to position themselves for the future.
time will tell.

@Mike Larson
You have a good point there. I never thought of that.

Especially if they are being paid well in the meantime until they could possibly own their own team down the road. If they can bank their money and get sponsors on board, it makes sense if that is their plan. The Procks have been around for decades and know the ins and outs of Nhra Nitro racing.

After 3 qualifying failures you would think Jimmy Prock would put a a relatively softball tune up in the car to guarantee a qualifying spot. All he had to do was run a 4.187 to get into the show.

Regarding Austin, I think he was so used to winning that this was a reality check, especially after the team change. After a few phone calls (from sponsors) and team meetings, I think he now realizes that he shouldn't have blamed the FTQ on the NHRA. This will be a learning experience for the entire team. It won't take them long to be back on the winning side.

Karma? Yeah, I think so.

Prock has never been shy. There have been times when they weren't in and he ran mid 3.90s in Q4. I think they just missed it.

there is video of them interviewing Jimmy and he said he kept crippling it but it still wouldn't stick...

This happens to everyone who has been successful in this sport. To appreciate the high points you have to suffer the low points. Austin has to appreciate the quality of humility.

Jimmy is now using different parts. He is too talented and will get the car squared away quickly.

Watched a interview, (Joe Costello)? before the season started. The way Austin explained it was that his "family" talked to John and they couldn't work out a deal so if he wanted to race with his family he had to move with them. I think it might have been both money and maybe Thomas becoming a crew chief on Alexis's car? I don't think anyone wanted to leave but after two dominant seasons and records set it was time for a raise and a promotion for Thomas. Just my 2 cents, don't think will ever know what really happened. Doesn't matter now any way.

Ring, ring:
John Force Racing, Good Morning. How can I help you?

Tasca: You got any of them clutch discs for sale?

JFR: Walk on home boy!

Just having fun. No idea what the issues are/were.
I'm sure they will be qualifying at the Arizona race.
No rooting interest at all.

or maybe you got any funny car chassis you don't need. that car (Tasca's) was very inconsistent last year. quick at times but more often blew the tires off. Time will tell.

Didn't Tasca, toward the latter part of the season, say the chassis was an issue and was looking forward to bringing out new pipe? Did that not happen or am I imagining it?

somewhere there is article from 2025 that states bt3 used 3 different chassis last year....i think that's what it said.

Slumps happen to everybody. I recall Doug Kalitta's month's long slump, ditto Steve Torrence, ditto Antron Brown, Erica Enders who lost race after race due to uncharacteristically slow RTs and even John Force when everyone thought his driving (the Camaro) had become erratic. Everybody figured it would take at least half a season before Tasca's new team would gel to the point it's competitive with the Hagens, the Forces and the Capps. Last year was far from a banner year for them also.

But Tasca isn't exactly a po-boy shoestring operation and Jimmy Prock isn't exactly a mechanical neophyte. For now, Austin - spoiled by winning nearly half of every race he's entered in the last two years - will have to learn one important thing if he expects to continue to drive for Bob Tasca - patience.

You would think Jimmy would be on top of something like that along with of course looking at the whole program. Seems like they had too much trouble in Gainsville for it to be just one thing. Might have a whole new car at Firebird!
