Right, if we had a suspended car, this discussion would be largely moot: 1) it wouldn't hop out of the lights as easily, and 2) adding a few pounds weight would be a slam dunk -- it would be such a small percentage increase.

The suspended car is largely, set it and forget it. At least with our two Davis built cars, BUT with great power comes great responsibility, or in other words, when we put the TD motor in the davis car, is started hiking up the front end again.

Yep and that's our issue here as well. We added 90hp this winter, and this problem crops up. As you note, power is a double-edged sword...
