Antron OK after round 1 accident

if they run after a fan died tha is f up, what are these drivers thinking, a person lost their life!

If someone lost their life at the track I dont believe they will let races continue until the police finish their investgation.

A friend of mine called and said he was standing three people away from the woman that got killed and had to dive to get out of the way of being hit. He said the safety safari ignored the fans pleas to help the lady and were only concerned with Antron. Said it took a good 10 minutes for an ambulance to arrive and by then she was dead. Her husband, who was in a handicapped scooter, was taken to the hospital.

I wasn't there but isn't the Safety Safari's job to be concerned with what is happening on the track, i.e. Antron, wrecked racecar, etc.
The tracks have on-site medical personnel to help with the spectators. Either way, it's a sad thing to happen. You're out enjoying your day, never expecting this to happen. But it does. :(

Proof "Dedicated to safety" of Drivers but not anybody Else, plus "The Show Must Go on". WHAT THE F***? Now I can't believe I'm gonna say this about a sport (more an organization that is the leader in the sport of drag racing) I had so much passion for since I was 6 back in 1992 and this is gonna be harsh so I am so sorry to say this but...F*** You NHRA!

I now have the same wishes for NHRA like I do for the NY Mets in that I hope all the worst happens to them for so many boneheaded decisions in general for the most recent time frame (Past several years) in their almost 60 years of existence. even though I understand they are the "be all end all" to drag racing I hope those in the offices in Glendora experience big time consequences amongst the sport and the heat comes down HARD on them and it gives them a good B**** slap of reality to wake them up and get the Q-Tips out of their ears and make them stop counting their $$$ and do EVERYTHING and I mean that to make them not look like a bunch of goofs on the same page as many cable companies and make the Safety the BEST DAMN THING IT COULD BE FOR EVERYBODY while maintaining the positives of what makes Drag Racing what it is as well as other "minor" things not pertaining to the live experience (make smarter decisions with TV etc) until then... *Takes an NHRA T-Shirt and Blows his nose in it throws it down and spits on it.

RANT OVER :mad::mad::mad::mad:

PS, Better Hope and Pray I DON'T cancel my plans to go to E-Town this year because I'm on the verge of missing my first nationals since I first went in 1992 where I've never missed a Nationals @ E-Town since. Even when Scott Died I came back...This quite possibly may NOT make me Come this year...
Rob ... you are so far over center here !! Come back down to earth. You're mad ... OK, move on. Most of what you said is so nonsensical, I do not know how to respond. How old R U anyway, pleeeeease!

"Better Hope and Pray I DON'T cancel my plans to go to E-Town this year because I'm on the verge of missing my first nationals ..." R U Serious? By the way, I am sure the Mets could give a crap less about your ill wishes. Grow up !!

This is a horrible tragedy ... nothing else. Based on some internet information, you are going to disown NHRA, oh well bye!

Maybe stop for a minute and put yourself in Antron's place. That would be looking at the bigger picture, but you would rather be self consumed. I am sure Antron will he'll be back racing next race ... You Bet !!

Geez, now I'm all worked up !! What a stupid post !!

Everyone needs to take a deep breath and relax. There was an unfortunate accident where people were hurt and one person lost their life. To blame the NHRA for this is ridiculous. Don't you think if the NHRA could have prevented this from happening they would have? Just like any accident, there will be lessons learned from this and it will make the sport safer. My thoughts are with those impacted by this event.

Antron is one of the nicest people on the tour, him and his family are top notch people, great people. Lets hope he is ok mentally and physically after this. I dont think their is a person out there that this would not affect.

It don't matter how many precautions you take. Every so often a tragedy like this is going to happen. You simply can not prepare for every possible mishap. Godspeed to the person lost and condolences to their family.

I have to agree with this ... all the way. Time to step back and do some logical thinking.

Another Facebook comment from a spectator (and racer):
It was an elderly woman. She was hit in the head. Very very ugly. Iwas standing right across the road. The tire hit her then went 100 feet in the air smashed on the top of truck bounced up an over a few more truck and people and then hit the door and mirror of the truck right next to me puttin the mirror the the side glass. As I said, very very ugly.

Well The Mets certainly are at their lowest w/Omar Minaya and the plethora of Boneheaded decision they've made I can't even look forward to this "season" more like Season 2 of "The Greatest Comedy Act in Baseball".

I have NEVER had a time where I basically have had Disgust towards something that I have a passion for in the longest time, as I have mentioned I've been following NHRA since I was 6, But in the past Several years NHRA has had things from the aforementioned Boneheaded Decisions, to situations where they need to make Changes QUICK. Truth is they have resolved issues, and all that time I stuck thru it, even when as i said I witnessed the Death of Scott Kalitta basically Right in Front of me, the next year I came back, but then again you have something like this which is a Different animal all together.

Antron will OBVIOUSLY Be back, Resiliency is something ANYBODY must have in this sport sometimes they do whatever it takes to prevent it in the future (Team Force after Eric Medlen's death & John's Crash). the poor lady in the pits that was struck by the parts...NOPE.

Do you think that in this society where Lawsuits are the tool (Sometimes "Weapon") of choice, that somebody that has a connection to her as an accomplice is going to file suit towards NHRA? I wouldn't rule that out of the picture.

IMHO this is No Different than the incident at the Monster Truck event a year or 2 ago when a spectator was killed and the BS that happened there.

In a nutshell the NHRA Cannot afford to have more albatrosses upon themselves and this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I really Hope NHRA can rise from this because this isn't just a Car or Driver thing, but a greater picture and that lady who got struck could be anybody and a freak accident like this could happen at ANY Time....I don't care what they do, they wanna use the "Dedicated to Safety" motif, time to make it mean More than it being for the drivers who go down the track. Whether it be a Top Fuel Driver or even a Bracket Racer

My 4th or 5th thought after hearing this news (after being saddened for the spectators and Antron) was that this would bring out the morons and know-it-alls on the 'Mater ... there isn't any "official" news yet and some of you haven't disappointed.

If some of you actually believe the nonsense you posted (and the ones surely to follow with ridiculous posts), then I am sad for you too.

Low dollar team oils the track and you guys want him banned. High dollar team wrecks and the shrapnel kills someone. Which is worse? The safety safari should be there to help anyone that needs it. As always once your in the gate, they have your money and they could care less.
