What irony!

An American of African descendent is about to be inaugerated as President of the United States, the finest golfer in the world is of African descent, in motorsport an Englishman of African descent is the Formula One World Champion (and was awarded the prestigeous MBE by the QUEEN OF ENGLAND- just a tick or two short of KNIGHTHOOD), the most talented motocross rider in the USA currently, is of African descent, and the African American youth of our fair country are DESPERATELY in need of clean cut role models to counter the drug dealers, rapsters and some ball and stick athletes, - although they are "cleaner" than the above two - mostley, that J. R. Todd DOESN'T have a ride.

SHAME ON DRAG RACING!!

um its the economy, not role modelability. My daughter adores Hillary and she is a great role model. Not sure keeping his ride due to his heritage is right just as losing his right because of it wouldn't be right

Norm - it is a shame that JR doesn't have a ride this year. However, if African American youth are looking for a role model in drag racing . . . did you forget about Antron? I think he would probably be acceptable. - Jim

I honestly had forgotten the VERY capable Mr. Brown (senior moment) to have two African Americans wouldn't be all that bad though would it?
Forgive the sarcasm, but having a quota,i.e one out of sixteen, reeks of LIBERALISM and I know you didn't mean that.

JR is a great guy with lots of talent. Right now economics is going to rule over one's demographic. Once things are better he'll be back.

4 weeks from opening day. 3 TF entries listed for Pomona: Troy Buff, Antron Brown, and Larry Dixon Jr. . Obviously more teams will be there, but I can't remember anytime that it took this long to start to fill up. 7 FC's listed, 10 PS.

At least TAFC is full!!

10 Comp Cars....

Drag racing is probably the most diverse of ALL motorsports. Why the "shame on drag racing" comment? I'm sure it hurt the Lucas family very deeply to cut JR. Don't take it out on the Lucas family. They've been wonderful for drag racing. I don't think JR's African American descent has diddly squat to do with him being cut. It's economics dude...economics. I'm very sure that JR would be the first one to tell you that.

That aside, I'm more concerned about long time prominent drivers that may not have a ride, including Doug Kalitta and maybe Brandon, who is one of JR's buddies. It's the economy...the economy!!! For the person who mentioned Hillary, I'm equally concerned about her. She's a fourth place finisher.

So, what I'm trying to say is, demographics aside, there are other drivers, further on up the ladder that are in danger of losing their seat, if they already haven't. I'm sure JR's heritage has little to do with why he lost his seat. JMHO

I guess Drag racing needs quotas now...

I can guarantee that J.R.'s race has absolutely nothing to do with his release from Lucas racing. He is a great driver and nice young man and his parents are delightful people. As is always the case, there is much more involved here. And just because he is no longer the driver, doesn't mean the team is not still in tact, or that they are or are not racing this year.

I'm sure Morgan will fill in all the blanks in due time.

What do we have now? The race race? :D

BTW, I disagree with putting anything in front of American if you're born here. I think African American should be reserved for an African who MOVES here. I think that term is racist and unpatriotic.

says the crew was realeased as well

Hasn't JR (6) won a few more races than Morgan (0)? Who is more personable. Who throws his helmet all the time. Who appears to be a spoiled rich kid? Perhaps Lucas Oil released the wrong driver.......

You can't be serious with that last statement. JR could have won every other race last year and he would still be gone. Good thing Morgan has the last name he does.
