All Three Procks leaving JFR (2 Viewers)

If I understand correctly, the consensus here on Nitromater seems to be that Cornwell Tools is a company brought to Force by the Procks, and therefore Cornwell would be moving with the Procks to Tasca or wherever they end up. If so, who would be the primary sponsor for the Force Funny Car #2?

What about Jordan Vandergriff as the new driver replacing Austin Prock? Hasn't he been under some sort of development deal with Force for a few years?
At first my thought was Cornwell Tools goes with Prock where ever he goes. I had heard the same as Prock and Cornwell tools sponsorship deal. Dejoria would be more or replacing him as the second team car.

The Drag Illustrated article has made me think otherwise. They mentioned that JFR has already reached out to a potential replacement driver. It also said that they already planned to announce the addition of a new funny car driver within the next two weeks at PRI which was going to be Dejoria. So if Cornwell is staying with Force racing they could potentially have three cars next year with Beckman/Peak, DeJoria/Bandero and ???????/Cornwell Tools.

This is a big deal, and interesting. It was not of the magnitude of the “Godzilla” announcement I was expecting, though. It appears to be positive news. Got everybody talking too.

I don't recall reading that, but I could be wrong. Being a top crew chief and procuring sponsorships doesn't sound like something Jimmy Prock would be interested in.

It's one thing if a driver or crew chief leaves, but a sponsor is another. If Tasca is the landing spot. How would he offer the same amount of visibility as JFR?
We must keep in mind this is business. If Cornwell goes with Prock is true, one possibility is that it is a B2B agreement of some sort. Tasca owns dealerships who employ technicians who own tools. It is expected that a marketing partner needs more than just a name on the side of a car. The return on investment might be that Cornell gets primary visibility at dealerships. It could even be more complicated than that. Pure speculation on my part. We will all know soon enough.

Clearly I don't know, but to me it would be pretty surprising if Cornwell was an open-checkbook sponsor that would be a major driver of a deal like this. They are a very distant fourth in the tool truck game- I'm sure in some areas they are well represented, but in large swaths of the country they have zero presence. And to my knowledge, unlike Snap-on/Mac/Matco, they refuse to sell online or any way besides directly off the truck. Their business model may work for them, but it has never struck me as one that would facilitate a large marketing budget.

I kind of viewed Cornwell being Prock's primary as a sign that it was probably a pretty tight budget for a high-level team- surely a long way from the glory days at JFR. Wherever the Procks end up, Cornwell may very well come along in some capacity, but I would think there would have to be another major sponsor component to this.

Just got off the phone with my friend in Brownsburg. Get your dry mark boards ready to track who’s where in the fuel classes, we won’t know for sure who’s where until they roll into the pits at Gville. He says the last seventy two hours the off season poaching has been at an all time high. Not just crew chiefs, car chiefs and drivers but every position from OTR truck drivers, hospitality people, clutch specialists, divers, cylinder head specialists etc.. are moving from team to team. A silly rumor he heard yesterday Fast Jack has left JFR also. He is the one who told me the Procks were leaving JFR a few weeks ago and you all laughed.
Jasmine just licenced in F/C....

Larry, any comments on this? 🤠

Jack is still with JFR and is not going anywhere.

Dealerships have no say so in what kind of tools their technicians use or own. And very few of them buy Cornwell tools

I had a friend Tim Brown (RIP) who was a Cornwell dealer, and he would say that most of his business was from aerospace. He was based out of the Long Beach here in So. Cal.

And now that I think of it, I've bought some tools off him years ago and don't remember being overly impressed with them.

Jasmine just licensed in F/C....
In whose car?

With Mike Salinas apparently shutting down his Top Fuel operation this year, why would Jasmine Salinas be licensing in F/C? Just for the experience? Or is she going to bring some Salinas money to help pay for an F/C ride next year?

I have removed my post and will refrain from posting in the future.
Heck, I think it’s OK Chuck, even if not true, we are all just doing the spaghetti and wall thing. You did say it was based on conversation, so maybe in the future just make that really obvious. If anything anyone says on here is unfounded, someone will definitely step in and make it known. No hurt butts.

Maybe I don’t take it seriously enough? This is the rumor mill after all.

First of all; Chuck , you are an industry insider and I enjoy your posts, nobody takes rumors too seriously, hopefully. I hope you keep sharing your insights and history. Second; I think Tommy Johnson Jr. would be an excellent choice if there is an empty seat at JFR. Funny car or Top Fueler, few are any better at driving and also being a sponsor spokesperson . A true class act, and total package.

What better way then to get them to start buying. Could offer discounts, etc. Ford currently has a technician shortage. Maybe a way to get new techs in the door; offer them a starter tool set. Not saying that's it, but a possibility.
