I've always read that but wondered how Glidden had his relationship with Ford as he did.

They slowly worked their way back in, first F1 with the Cosworth DFV, in the early 80's and beyond IMSA and Trans Am with Jack Roush, then NASCAR with Jack and then Bill Elliot. Through some money at Glidden and candies and Hughes

I could tell you however the post would be pages long. To keep it short Nick Arias and Alan Root (backed by Alan's parents) were partners in A/R, Inc. they had the Ford part numbers for their Boss 429 thanks in part to help from Ed Lyons (who worked at FORD SVO) and Mike Kranefuss (the head of Ford's Motorsports division). When Nick and Alan couldn't get along they split - allegedly Bob bought out Nicks share of the business. Larry Widmer of Enydn went to the foundry and spent several days scraping the green sand molds/cavity to produce his high swirl lean flow cylinder heads that Bob and only Bod had access to. I am aware of this as an insider since I was under contract to assist with developing the engine for the fuel classes. However after less than six months Alan and I couldn't get along due to delays in shipping product and product failure. It was at this time that I purchased the full race and street version blueprints, patterns and molds that Nick had. Alan and Bob didn't want them because they deemed them of no value to them. I went on the expand the product line to over 300 propriety parts prior to receiving a cease and desist letter from FORD. That's another story in itself. My inventory, blueprints, patterns and molds ended up with Carroll Carter at C&C Machine and are now referred to as the Roberts patterns after the person who originally made them for Nick and Alan. AJPE did buy Rodeck's block manufacturing, but that's not where he started. he ran the blocks, then bought the company when it became available.

John Rodeck was a good dude, and enjoyed hanging out with friends. There was this one night when all the flights in Chicago were jacked up and we couldn't get home.

When Rance Mc Daniel returned to T/F in the early 90's after a 10 year layoff, I'm pretty sure John Rodeck was the crew Chief , back in those days the crews would hang around super late in the pits, listening to those guys stories was the best, Jimmy Nix and Frank Bradley would also hang out there sometimes.

True, and Rance won the World Finals in 1998 driving the Rodeck (TFX) car. They ran that car on the conservative side, it ran well, solid mid pack. But didn't hurt parts. John Rodeck told me that when they retired, they still had block TFX1 in the rotation.
