Alan Johnson car sponsor. (1 Viewer)

Purely speculation and bench racing fodder, but I'd venture to guess that Vimeo pulled the plug? The only reason I say that is because Ashley has gone silent on social media about Vimeo, and is still chatting up how comfortable her Red Wing shoes are. Again, just bench racing here, as I really have no idea whats going on!

Alan Johnson has said he will not start without full funding.
Alan Johnson is a smart man. How many times have we as fans seen someone try to run a fuel car with white body panels in hopes of attracting attention (and money)? This isn't Days of Thunder and there aren't people with money waiting in line to paint their name on a race car if someone shows true talent. Everyone on the planet knows who AJ is and what he's capable of but if the money's not there, it's not there.

the only reason i can think of why the nhra would interfere is if the sponsor was of some elicit nature ie. porn, drugs etc.

PORN ?.....DRUGS ?...........REALLY ?.......SORRY....BUT...I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING...........

Big Jim Dunn was sponsored one year by Hustler or one of those types of magazines. He got a lock of flack about it. Sorry can't remember the name of the magazine.

i'm not buying that the nhra steals sponsors until i see testimonials from racers this has happen to!

I think you mean Vizio. That's who she was plugging on Facebook.

Vizio makes decent products. It would be cool to see a new mainstream non-automotive sponsor on an NHRA car. Pure speculation here, If it was the NHRA that caused the deal to go south I don't see how they could have a beef with a TV manufacturer but what do I know.

So much speculation with so many people thinking NHRA can ruin a deal. How does NHRA know who Alan is working on a deal with?

Lots of interesting comments here. Shane Sanford (Ashley's dad) will be at my house tomorrow morning. I'll have to ask him about the Vizio deal. It's not the company that pulled the plug, by the way.

What a f-ing shame for Ash though. I really thought she would be “the next” one to take off. And who knows - it could still happen. I certainly wouldn’t discount her.

The NHRA has had a group that helps with attracting sponsors. I'm not sure on Allan's level that he would use them other than perhaps to get some of the selling numbers (attendance, tv ratings etc). But for those starting out or dreaming too they have helpful info.

As much as I appreciate and enjoy your posts Randy, keep in mind that there's always two sides to a story and the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. So unless you heard that directly from Vizio.....

Might as well have. Whether they are around in the end or not, it wasn't Vizio that killed the deal.
