What gets me is Sea-Tac is a Huge market with very little Motorsports competition, yet the NHRA race doesn't draw nearly as many fans as say Pomona or Dallas.
Part of it has to do with the facility. They just paved the pits a couple of years ago. The bleachers are largely splintery old boards. Most of the toilets are porta-potties, the others are gross. Parking is on bumpy, muddy, fields. In general, it's old, tired, and dirty. Compared to Pomona or Vegas (haven't been to Dallas), it's not in the same league.
They are working toward a really nice new facility, with a great cut-into-the-hillside layout (great for neighbor noise issues), nice new stands, tracks for carts, motorcross, and so on. They're up against the neighbors, but they've started work and the plans look amazing.
If they can pull it off, it will certainly make the whole experience much better. I took my wife and daughter to the Seattle race a few year back and they vowed never to return. Then I convinced my daughter to go to Pomona, and she's turned into a big fan (and now a Super Comp driver). She attributes a bunch of it to the facility, and the experience.
Has anyone heard any adds for the Hot Rod rally at the San Jacinto mall? Urs Urbacher's going to fire off his TF'er. Should be a great deal for first timers!
