I'm with you George, Dumbest gimmick I have ever heard of. Somebody has called it Fourplay that sounds right. It's hard enough to really see what happening with 2 cars, how the hell can a person keep an eye on four?
Was great with booked in shows at Rockford but those were NOT real races, and cars ran mid 6's 200 MPH.
What's next having a guy ride on top of the wing?
Anytime you have to add gimmicks, You no longer can call it racing. Its "entertainment" like WWF wrestling. (or whatever acronym their calling it now) Watched it in person last year from the stands only because the rest of the crew went up there. Recorded it on cell phone video. Wasn't impressed. Guess all the homies with their import fart pipes, "Shore house" fans, "entertainment tonight" watchers are lovin it though. Call me an old fart malcontent, And with all your political correctness and dont upset the sponsors, "watch what you say" claptrap, You ruined the sport I had a passion for. You can have it kids, Just flush twice so i don't hafta smell it.
And people say I'm Harsh.
'don't knock it 'til you've seen it'... did forty plus years ago, while on a vacation. great as a booked in match race...
seems like when I was a pup, #1 ran #9, #2 ran #10, ect. When did we go to the 1/16 ladder? or was that just AHRA and independent races?
d'kid
Did you read the part of my post where I not only seen it, I recorded it on my cell phone?
And I remember the old 1 vs 9 ladder. Bought the book and wore the shirt,
I would love to see that in person someday. But, it's OK for once a year. We don't need it anywhere else on the tour though. Like it was said previously here, they should increase the purse or give out more points for winning this race. For the new or occaisional fans - and especially stock car fans..... trying to explain all the lights and pairings must be a nightmare. They'll never try to understand it. On TV they'll watch for header flames or blow ups; in person, they'll go for 1 day to smell the nitro, feel the shake & walk the pits. I can't see this enticing a whole new wave of fans.
