I'm told they will not play the national anthem before eliminations for this event, Instead they will take a page from the Pappy Hart playbook and play steam calopy "Circus" music before the four wide starts:D

Hey, I would love circus music or anything else. I just wish health problems had not kept me from making the race. Now, can't even get audiocast....

I'm just glad that 4-wide will only be for 2 races. Tried to be objective but I hated this race!. Way too much to watch at one time. And it's apparently too much for the announcers to watch too as they reran some races way too many times. They didn't keep the run times posted long enough (I read slow).

Wonder how the car sponsors like it when their car is in lane 2 or 3?

This might be a good race for an in-person spectator (and I even doubt that) but for a TV viewer it sucked. Will give NHRA my 1 cent (used to be 2 cents but with inflation and all...) Monday morning.

I just wish they would have shown the Matt Hagen incident again.

After looking at 1st round. I wounder how the drivers truthfully like the 4play deal now. I'll bet we got some pissed off people now, but due to being PC they wont say it.

Watching the qualifying I was trying to keep an open mind about it, but it didn't connect with me, and the ladders, which I like to see the upcoming matchups on, looked ridiculous, Mike Dunn even sounded a little embarrassed trying to describe them on the screen.

I also really like to watch a good Pro Stock bumping session when you are lucky enough to have reasonable conditions for the 4th session, like yesterday, but with 4 at once the bumping was over way too fast.

I guess if it helps build some interest in the sport, once or twice a year is ok, but I'd rather see them treat it like a special non-points all-star race, its too wacked out in my opinion to be part of the points race.

I still say it was a "Dog & Pony Show" I know & understand the TF & FC cars cant cut lights like PS & PSM but those RT's were a joke even for TF!

Some "GOOD" riders screwed up (timed out or didn't leave at all) IMO it just screwed up a lot of good racers... S**T look at Eddie Krawiec, & Andrew Hines .. both out in round 1 & I blame it on the "Circus" NHRA tried to put on...

so far qualifying did not trip my trigger as I thought it might; will wait
and watch the elims................maybe i'll call up my favorite set
of twins to come over and watch with me :D

For the 1st time since 1987, I turned off the races as I was watching them. Shutting of NHRA has been unheard of for me. I usually can't take my eyes off the races or even qualifying.
WAY too much going on in the 4 wide. Not enough good shots of the cars & crews. Bad camera coverage as the race commences as well.

Hope it's a fad & passes like bad gas.

I did the same thing. I've stayed out of this until I saw it. This is not a change for safety reasons or improving efficiency of timing systems or technolgy advancements. This is changing the entire format of drag racing. I hated it. period. It's fine for an exhibition event but other than that I won't watch. Again I shut it off.

only undefeated nitro cars going into finals are Princess in flopper and Ant in Pipe racks... everyone else is 1 & 1, except Herbert who has R/U'd both his runs. We need to find a spin doctor if Herbert wins T/F...

I guess it's raining.

Hey Bruton....How about we race 16 wide? Then we can show the "action" live on TV without fear of between rounds downtime.ESPN can show replays ad nauseum and maybe we could fill the other 45 minutes of the hour with interviews or circus clowns or stunt drivers....

NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL!!! :D

It would kind of mix with the concept of drag racing wouldn't it? ALL OUT... GO HARD OR GO HOME? 16 of the best all at one time...? RUN WHAT YA BRUNG?

You may have stumbled onto greatness David....

While watching the Qualifying show they showed some 4 wide from Friday night under the lights, and that did look awesome! But that was the only pass all the cars got down the track? With just 16-20 Fuel cars in both classes I think this is a waste of time! Bruton's gonna ruin LVMS!

Yea, we'll see how long this will last. (Maybe three wide? Four's too much.)

If NHRA keeps this, the format needs tweaking on eliminations day, Sunday.

They should have a losers bracket where cars that lost in round one return and run for points in the second round. Instead of 20 points for a win, they get ten. Hey, they are in the LOSERS braket. Adds a little more racing for the fans on Sunday.

My family was going to come over for dinner and to watch the races. Based on the qualifing we decided to just go out to dinner and blow off the races. 4-wide just isn't for us and we will quit watching those races that have 4-wide. Like it even less in person. As I stated in a previous thread I cancelled my reservations for Vegas.

That won't happen till 2011, I'm hoping we can get a petition to leave vegas alone!!!!

OK, after seeing it on TV I just changed my mind about this crap. How about 4 wide qualifying only? Reference the Hight-Arend incident. You can't have people keeping thier foot in it just to beat someone 3 lanes over who they cannot see or hear. Robert didn't do anything wrong per se...... but you have to wonder if that would of happened on a 2 lane road. Or what about 2 run, they cross the finish then the other 2 run, etc? After seeing that - - I'm concerned.....
