Worst oildown you've ever seen? (7 Viewers)

Luigi nuked one first round in Brainerd in the late 90’s/ early 2000’s. Ruined the right lane for the rest of the day. People still talk about that one.
oh boy do i remember that one. i think they were the first pair out in E1 on an absolutely chamber of commerce sunday.
right after the invocation and the 2 anthems. beer garden did record sales after that.

Antron Brown leveled one at the fall Vegas race in the late 2000’s. I remember it being abnormally long. Now that I think about it, he might have blown up twice that weekend, Q2 and Q4.

Things sure have come a long way since the days of no diapers or puke tanks and the safety safari was a couple of guys in a pickup truck.

Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton. 2002 or 2003. Todd Paton from starting line to shutdown was a doozy. There was also a Jr Dragster that same year (same day maybe?) that must've had an extra oil tank because it was a mess...

Not an oil down but 2024 Sunday eliminations at VMP was torture. John's wreck took forever to clean up and we were beyond stressed and upset because there was almost no news for the longest time if he was even alive or how bad it was. Then after they got finally got the races resumed, there was a rain delay to halt progress again.
And I remember several times at Maple Grove in the 90's where there would be a big top end explosion. We'd sit through 45 minutes of cleanup only to have another one in the next pair.

Not the biggest cleanup, but very notable...Remember the dairy farmer Brent Fanning dumping cow manure on the starting line? Indy maybe?? I don't think I ever saw him run NHRA again. Probably a lot of behind the scenes stories about that one!

Ok I win, years ago at Lions a hired company that was too oil the spare pit area with waste oil on the gravel was told to go to the track and put the oil there This was not the first time they oiled that pit area. The workers put the entire truck load of oil on the racing surface. the only none oiled surface was from the tower to the starting line so we had very short racing that day. I think Ivo won the event. this was before nitro racing.

One year at the old Tucson Dragway, they had put some sort of sealer on the track, and boy did it mess everyone up. Garlits won T/F over Gene Snow that year with a 6.12. Maybe 1983??? Alan, you probably know about this one. Everyone was "walking it out of the gate" and then hitting it hard. Snake won F/C that year.
