Actually, it's NHRA's fault that they've been so busy lining the head offices pockets the past few years, and paid attention to business. Now the whole sport is in serious trouble, along with a rotten economy.

Ma is right. How many title rights sponsors are lined up for next year? Many in the Pro Stock class are going to feel the departure of two automakers.
Or course it may solve itself and a return to 70's style where cars had names and not sponsors may not be all that bad for the racing side of things. Money sometimes has a way of fouling things up.

You mean when there was a story behind the name and the name behind a story? When racers were spending their time with their family, friends and fans rather than corporate suits?!?!

If you guys want to blame NHRA for sponsors leaving then I guess you blame Nascar for the sponsor problems they are having.
I guess NHRA and Nascar were running the mortage companies that borrowed money to people that couldn't pay their bills and the auto unions that are breaking the auto industry.

I miss the days where the cars were something to look at rather than rolling billboards. Like cruising through the SC/SG pits and seeing Marilyn Monroe on the quarter panels or catchy slogans or little blurbs that say "Special thanks too...Jesus Christ, Mom and Dad, etc etc"
Oh sure, I'll stay in the Sportsman pits if that's where you want to stick me. I don't mind, I have friends there.
Was WJ's comments part of the regular broadcast? If so, after what round did he make the comment. I have the race recorded but must have missed the comment. I'd like to hear his comment if I could find it without too much fuss.
