I really don't want to renew my Directv and was curious if anyone is having success at watching there shows through WiFi.?

I stream ESPN3 for NHRA and stream Sunday Ticket when I am watching the Nascar races on Sundays. I have no intentions of dropping Directv because I can't find a place that has all the sports options I currently have with them. Sunday Ticket and MLB Extra Innings along with all the sports channels in my package makes me a happy customer. I will say this, the TV providers should come up with a la carte TV options for consumers before they start losing more share than what they already have. The provider who is first able to crack this nugget will have a leg up on the competition. Here's a article on this subject. http://online.wsj.com/articles/prices-add-up-with-a-la-carte-tv-1413501679

Thanks Paul, I have sports and few other I like to watch that 100.00 is a big nut to swallow every month.

Been watching ESPN 3 on Xbox and Cox Cable for a few years now... Friday qualifiers are awesome- racing right now, to the point and done. Sunday's a bit hard to dedicate 7 hours to, so I find I just tune in for the first and last rounds lately, and then watch the replay (so I can FF) whenever I have the time.

I've got the fastest internet package that Cox offers in the house, so the stream is really good. But I still have an issue with ESPN's camera placement, the quality of their audio, and the fact that they could just give us the tower feed when Sportsman classes are running as a courtesy.

While I'd love to have the ESPN's, MavTV, NESN, and a few others, I just can't justify going back to a large cable package for as much as I'd really watch it. It's been four years now since I dropped it for a very basic cable package, which I'm now getting ready to drop to go to an HD antenna. We do the Hulu+, Netflix thing, which has everything my wife wants, and it works out fine. Other than watching something live, there's not much difference in finding something on YouTube the next day or watching it on DVR the next day.

Cable companies must be getting worried about subscribers learning more about streaming and other way's of watching their favorite shows because in today's mail Verizon sent me their special offer of signing up for a two year contract and they would reduce my monthly bill by $20.00 for the next two years. Comes out to $480.00 dollars in savings.

They are doing what the cell phone companies always try to do and that is lock you into a contract. The penalty for opting out of the contract before the two years expires is $230.00 dollars.

They realize they are starting to lose market share.

Unlike cell phone companies though, where the price trend has been down (unless you burn up a lot of data, and even then "unlimited" data packages are markedly cheaper than a few years ago), the cable/satellite industry is trending up, and it will only continue to go up as the content providers like ESPN increase their carriage fees year over year, which means your cable/satellite provider has to pay more to carry them every year and thusly they have to charge you more to watch it every year.

I told my Comcast agent that I was considering dropping my package cause Hulu Plus has really stepped up their variety of shows they stream. She dropped my Bill from $121 to 92! I then told her if my rates went up without notice I would drop them immediately, she said they always tell members about Price increases....so
